"Most XP files do not run on Windows 10. "
There are extensive reader comments following the article, dated up to late last month. Many of them are people who, in the last year, tried on Windows 10 and say it worked for them. I downloaded the linked SAM reset iso, it's only 3mb and passed Smart screen and Defender. It seems a simple thing to try since he's locked out now and less complicated for a beginner than a clean install or navigating from a boot cd.
i'm kinda stuck now. it says files ready to be written to disc. it asked me before that as usb or cd/dvd & i chose the latter. appreciate your help guys! found out staples virus removal costs 159.99 O.O
$159 is a lot of money for something you can do yourself in 10 minutes. Plus, Syskey is not a Virus. It's a security feature which is a part of Windows. Just not many people know about it., not even the enterprise people it was written for.
I have to agree with @essenbe. He and I have both done this for people who have been scammed with the SysKey trick. It's quite simple and painless:. Boot to Kyhi's rescue media, find the backed up files as essenbe described and copy them over to the current location. This will remove the SysKey requirement.
