All of my Icons went blank, I could not fix them I know that this build 10056 is stable.
Thanks Kari I bookmarked the link. I'm already on 10049(downloaded from the MEGA DL, but the ESD being smaller would be better. What I really need to do is, get my backside over to Kabel Deutschland and make an appointment to get me a fiber optic connection.
Cliff, a word, notice that this is a very subjective opinion but based on real life first hand experience.
I would stay as far as possible from the Kabel Deutschland. From all the service providers here in our adopted home country, the only one who comes even near the speeds and service you pay for is Deutsche Telekom, or as they are better known around the world, the T-Home.
Less service downtime and interruptions, best speeds and in fact quite a good customer service. Prices are not so bad, I pay about €60 a month for 200+ TV channels over IP, 10 VoIP fixed phone numbers, 50/10 Mbps Internet line and so on. And of course no bandwidth limits.
Just my two € cents...
Thanks Kari I'll look into it. Being that you definitely use the computer more than me, and have more experience, your 2 cents are worth more than 100 Euros.
I still get the Kabel Deutschland signal in to my apartment as the house management has a contract with them, €8 from my monthly maintenance fees goes for that and there's nothing I can do for that. I can plug a standard coaxial cable to wall socket in every room and get the free over the air channels from them over it.
But my connection issues ended as soon as I told them it's over now and switched to Telekom. I get the speeds promised, my download and streaming is usually always at least 5.3 to 5.6 MBps when about 5.9 to 6.0 would be the theoretical maximum with a 50 Mbps line. The customer service answers the emails within a few hours and they are available on phone 365/24/7. When my IPTV receiver broke down a couple of months ago and I called them late Saturday evening, I got the replacement on Monday evening, the courier waiting me to put the old one in an empty box he had with him and taking it away.
My fixed phone numbers are all VoIP. Ten of them belongs to the packet, three are preset when you start and seven can be set up by yourself. I use one number for private phone, one for work, one I have only given to my family so I know already when it rings it's one of them, and use one as the fax number. I can decide if I want to answer using the phone, from any PC, my Android tablet or the Windows Phone. When away, my home number rings on my Windows Phone.
(Oh s***, they should pay me for promoting them like this :).)
Anyway, I am as happy customer as possible. I get what promised, paying quite little for that and the service is OK.
I had been thinking of the 10GB packet just internet as I already have cable(Plus the RCI88-350 PVR record 3 watch 1) and I use a basic telephone service from Telekom with tax 20 Euro. Hell even 1GB/s is better than a 7.2Mbps(although I have gotten speeds up to 20Mbps using Ubuntu for some reason)
