That was exactly what I was saying. I've not seen an example of a SATA m.2 drive working with rapid mode. Have you? I'm not saying it won't. But Samsung tech's did tell me it didn't. However, we all know they often have uneducated guys on their phones from time to time. So I am truly interested in someone giving me a concrete example contradicting what they've said.
Hi,
Regardless of whether or not I do have some drives like that, I've listed those that ought to work with SM.I've not seen an example of a SATA m.2 drive working with rapid mode. Have you?
I can garantee you they do work in Rapid mode.
And that's in SM's documentation as I stated right from the start.
SM does not support NVMe but all commercially available Samsung SATA drives should support Rapid Mode, whether these are mounted on a M2 support, a 2.5'' casing or msata is totally irrelevant. But Samsung tech's did tell me it didn't.
Cheers,
Not to be contrary, but for arguments sake, you can't guarantee anything you don't have or haven't used. There have been tons of write ups from companies saying their products will do this and that, and they didn't do either. I'm not saying they won't, and again, I didn't say I believed what they said. I only said that this was what they told me. All I know is my Samsung m.2 sata drive is blazingly fast, even without rapid mode. And my 2.5" Samsung 840 is much faster with rapid mode. And we all know the 960 is a beast! So it all works out in my system.
Hi,
Correct, sorry for not being more precise.SM does support NVME, NVME does not support Rapid Mode
Actually I do have a few of these drives. I didn't want to mention it because I wanted people to understand why the supporting media format is of no importance. Not to be contrary, but for arguments sake, you can't guarantee anything you don't have or haven't used.
Cheers,
So you are saying that you have these drives in place, and they're using rapid mode? If so, that was what I asked like five pages ago. Lol! But glad to have it confirmed. I rarely listen to these guys on support lines anyway, as they are normally just warm bodies these days... But on the other hand, until confirmed, I don't necessarily buy in either.

Hi,
Two 850 EVO's are currently used in 2.5" Asmedia RAID enclosure but yes, I tested them for Rapid Mode a while ago.So you are saying that you have these drives in place, and they're using rapid mode?
Cheers,
and garbage collection controlled by the firmware goes on in the background while the SSD is Idle, this is why we used to have to over-provision to make space for this. nowadays the extra space is built in so we don't require over provisioning any longer.
