Windows 10 lagging - How to fix?
I have Dell Inspiron 5000. Windows 10 Pro version 2004. Core i5-1135g7, 16 GB RAM.
I am a stock trader. So I open up multiple charts on a chart platform and open a trading platform as well. This is when my system starts to lag. Although the task manager shows that both CPU and RAM usage is below 50% at all times. But the system lags so much that it becomes annoying. When I type something, I see the text on the screen after a second. When I click something, I get a response after a second. Right now as I am typing this, everything is almost instant like it should be. This is the most resource-intensive thing that you can say I do on this laptop. Other than this, I only watch YouTube, Netflix and browse sites.
I know for sure that both my charting and trading platforms don't require ridiculous resources. I previously had a MacBook Pro 2017 with 8GB RAM and all was good. Then I moved to HP Probook i7 and 32 GB RAM and everything was smooth there too. Now, on this particular system, this is the issue I am facing.
Now, I don't know if it is the hardware or the software (Windows) issue. I can try and re-install the Windows to see if it helps. My question is, if these platforms were slowing down and making my system lag, shouldn't the task manager show they're eating up a lot of resources? Or can they slow down the system without eating resources? i5 11th gen and 16 GB RAM is more than enough for the tasks I do but still there seems to be a problem on this particular laptop.
Please give me suggestions on how to diagnose the exact problem and fix it.
