My windows 10 laptop display seems to be corrupt , Version number 21H2

This is the OP's diagram. If you magnify the diagram you'll be able to see that the horizontal lines extend right across the picture [they merely happen to be more noticeable in the big solidly-coloured parts].

My initial thought is to reinstall the display driver if only to eliminate that as a possible cause.

I did wonder if the display adapter or the display cable might be faulty but the pattern seems more regular than I have seen in such cases. It's possible.

Interesting problem. Try removing then uninstalling the driver. I had a more serious similar issue on my Dell laptop which was due to a poor cable connection with the display. This required almost complete disassembly of the laptop to fix but fortunately Dell provide service guides. If you do this be careful since the ribbon cable used is fragile.

Desktop - Does wiggling the cable about have any effect?
Laptop - Does opening the screen further / closing it a bit [i.e. working the display hinges so the display cable is moved about with them] have any effect?

Users can replace display cables if they have appropriate documentation.
If you do not have & cannot get a service manual for your computer then you might well find it better to ask a technician to change the cable for you.

I agree. Check the cable connection with the display and the motherboard. Also check the hinges are not loose / broken. I had a loose hinge which applied a strain to the cable and disconnected it.

You seem to have a laptop.
You do not seem to have done the suggested test. Watch the display while working the hinges because it's around the hinges that any damage to the display cable cores will most probably have been done.

Service manuals are published by the computer maker for many / most / all laptop models.
