    System Image Error Help

On my Windows 10 machine. I'm trying to make a system image, but I keep getting errors. It says that I don't have sufficient space on the hard drive that I'm trying to save to. But I have plenty of room. Any suggestions on why I keep getting this error?

I got these errors last week when trying to image a machine that had just been given a clean install of 20H2. I assumed that this long deprecated function had finally been broken in the new version.

I would not recommend using Backup and Restore (Windows 7).

Use Macrium Reflect Free instead -

I am in complete agreement with OldNavyGuy. Microsoft's track record on their System Image Backup is that since 2017 when it was deprecated....

    Microsoft said:

We recommend that users use full-disk backup solutions from other vendors.
Features removed or Deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

...they have been in no hurry to fix bugs that may occur. The last straw for me was in 2018 when it they broke it completely in the 32-bit version of 1803 and never bothered to fix it until 1809 was released.

1803 creating a system image fails with RPC server error 0x800706BA

That's when I turned to Macrium Reflect Free and haven't used anything else since.

Macrium Reflect is, as has been mentioned, often recommended in this forum for making system images. Other utilities are available but this one is so commonplace that you can get plenty of help for it.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect - TenForumsTutorials
    Macrium Software Macrium Reflect Free
    Macrium USB - TenForums
Macrium Reflect KnowledgeBase - user guide [version-independent link]

It can also make bootable system images. This facility is called viBoot and it requires Win10 Pro.
    Macrium viBoot - Macrium KB

    Macrium

So this is the recomended way to backup the image now ? I have been using the old the Win 7 image backup . Recently used it to restore an image too . Wasn't very fast but it did work to restore the pc . Did I read it right that the function will be gone if I update to 20H2 ? Is Macrium faster than the old Win 7 image backup ? I use a USB attached external HDD to back it up now .

Well faster? Macrium backed up to a full image of 64 gigs in about 10 minutes.
You will note that Win 10 is still using win 7 backup (which has never been
reliable for me) it was bound to be depreciated by Microsoft sooner or later.
as for 20h2 is seems to still be there in mine.

MS announced in Version 1709 that users should start using third-party imaging utilities instead.
    - The MS utility is currently "deprecated" which means that it will not get any functional enhancements or corrections but should get patches for newly-identified security vulnerabilities.

Lots of people in this forum use Macrium Reflect and they can help you if you have problems.
There are other imaging utilities but fewer forum members use them so you cannot be as sure of getting help for them here.
