Cant get update 1809 thru Windows Update Service

I have been trying to get the Windows version 1809 on my Surface 3 Pro for several weeks. When checking for updates I continue to get 1803 updates. 1809 has been available since October '17 so it seems I should have gotten it by now.

Is there any reason the update would skip me i.e.. insufficient space etc..?
Is there a compatibility tool to run and see if there are any problems?

I have it on my desktop and it works well and would like to have it on the Surface.

1) Find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

2) Create a bootable windows 10 iso with Windows 10 1809

3) Perform an in place upgrade repair using the Windows 10 iso:

4) Before performing the in place upgrade repair perform the following steps:

5) Uninstall any non-Microsoft antivirus (always on and manual) using the applicable uninstall tool
6) Uninstall any non-Microsoft firewall software using the applicable uninstall tool
7) Uninstall any non-Microsoft drive encryption software

8) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
9) sfc /scannow
10) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
11) chkdsk /scan
12) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

13) Place the computer into clean boot:

14) Make sure that there are no peripherals connected at the time of the upgrade

remove nonessential hardware
docks
USB devices
printers
headset
speakers
bluetooth devices
USB drives (other than a windows 10 iso if used for the upgrade)
USB Wireless Mouse or Keyboard Receiver, USB Wireless Network Card

15) Verify that the drive has > 27 GB free space (At least 25 GB is needed for creating dumps)

16) Remove all unused SATA devices (make sure that there is only one drive connected at the time of the Windows uprade)

17) If the upgrade works then you are set
18) If the upgrade fails then the failure can be troubleshooted viewing logs (error message, error code, etc.)

I think I'll take AddRam's advice and keep what I have.

It is highly recommended to change to the Semi-Annual Channel (previously called Current Branch for Business) to delay Feature updates (major OS upgrades). It's easy to do. Unfortunately, it's only available for Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions but not the Home edition. Note: Quality updates (security updates) can only be deferred for up to 30 days (they're usually perfected after the first week or two after release anyway).
