Ahhh, I see, I didn't notice it was compressed, sorryFunny thing though, WDT wouldn't open/run until I used 7Zip
The icon was just a blank sheet of paper default/generic icon.
I just had a "Brain Fart" that's all.
But you noticed which tool I go to? The software hackers choice, 7Zip run as admin. You might not be able to open everything readable, but you can find every single file(hidden or not) including MFT, page, swap Bootmgr, bootnxt....etc.
Well, I got 10586 onto the SSD, seems okay! Beats me what happened!
Nice Build, a real Build! No more testing! Yay!
Once installed you will notice that this is TH2 without the watermark, which in most cases is a milestone release. Just confirmed upgrading from 10240 does not tell me this is an insider pre-release.
The 7 laptop I just saw upgraded to 10 won't be seeing much there either in fact less then you would even be running. Yet the drive wasn't swapped since there wasn't any need. Here I often see an accumilation and don't need to putting regularly used folders on other drives when they are already backed up there. I find having a large capacity for local storage and backup works out much better then cramping OS only on a tiny drive at first with SSDs. 128gb is tiny for either desktop here! I'm hoping to eventually reach the 100tb mark potential likely from seeing a home server set up.
What you get from the Insider program will be an Insider Preview type build mainly intended for software and even hardware developers as well as testers submitting feedback for the continual support base MS will be offering with each version until it's dropped. You can test changes before market updated builds are released as RTM to replace the present 10240 as you would have previously seen Pre SP1 media to be followed by W ? with SP1.
The difference seen so far when upgrading from one build to the next is not seeing one change in programs already on or settings. The upgrade actually runs about 10min. and goes on like you would have seen a service pack only faster!
You are on the money trail there! Why do you think MS got smart with 10 by adding in the "Windows Feedback" option in the Start>AllApps>Windows Accessories for people to find? The Insider Previews builds are partially intended to collect data from the more advanced experienced users as well as evaluation and improvements 3rd party developers can come up with. You'll find a good number of those 3rd party interest are paid by the companies who do the most business with MS to start with. They sort of have a "Vested Interest" in how things turn out you might say?!
hey guys,
Build 10586 installed smoothly, BUT here i am back with my complains.
Again only 1 pc in the network and NOT mine.
Still no preview for pictures or foto's , so not in Extra Large Icons, Large, Medium....
Again needed to join the Homegroup.
I know this has to be in Updates, but hé....maybe Gabe reads this and FINALLY ther comes a solution...
