    Bypassing PIN (cannot logon)

    Hi,
A friend of mine recently passed away. I am trying to gain access to his pc to recover photos and documents for his mother. The computer is PIN protected. Password resetting tools I've tried do not remove the PIN unfortunately. I do not know his Microsoft account.

If I hadn't upgraded his PC to an SSD a few months ago I could have simply attached his hard drive to my computer to access the files. Unfortunately, I only have one M.2 slot so that is not an option.

    Any suggestions?

    Dave

Very sorry to hear about the passing of your friend.
You could get an M.2 external enclosure. Amazon has lots of them such as this one. Amazon.com
Be sure to pick one that’s compatible with the hardware in question.

SoFine409, the M.2 external enclosure sounds like a viable option. I was hoping to return the PC to his mom afterwards. I suppose I could do a clean install.

I think that sounds like a good plan and you’ll have an M.2 external enclosure that you could populate with a new M.2 for additional storage for yourself.
