Thanks for the kind words!
In a totally unrelated matter,
When modifying complicated plugins, I add a one-click backup option for 'Last Known Good' to each plugin. It's faster than trying to remember what code you just...
I did, using AddFiles technique.
Just an FYI, in case running an old InstallShield installer fails in XPE ...
An updated old PESE plugin that I keep "just in case" is for a MediaLink WiFi dongle; the plugin merely gives the...
Thanks MaloK!
I have my SDcard reader drivers in that folder, and they do take space in boot.wim as far as I can tell.
That would be great for a NETWORK printer , but a plug-in-and-play printer would have to be plugged in at each XPE bootup. I may integrate it into the build as-is, but only by storing in the ISOroot...
@Kyhi Wow! Great plugin. Thanks! V5 Worked first time with no modifications.
@APT38 Thanks! It took a few tries to get KYHI's PrinterDeviceSupport [PDS] v5. I ended up doing a complete new...
@MaloK: I didn't think of eliminating the Ramdisk. Good thought when I get desparate. There are two 'junctions' in my Ramdisk so I feared messing with it (Don't fix it if it isn't broke).
I will...
Running XPE usbstick on 4 GB machine, only running Win Explorer
B: Ramdisk is ~800 MB with 17MB used. WinPE Cache Size in BuildCore is set for 1024 MB.
X: is ~ 900 MB with 3 MB used
Y: is 32...
My Target folder is 3 GB. The full Win10XPE.ISO file is 4.2 GB.
I probably won't be able to improve much more. With the 2 GB in ISOroot , the usbstick has most of what I need and can (barely) run...
KYHI has patched the CreateISO plugin so it won't skip the ISOroot files.
Booting up is one thing; keeping running without crashing on too-little RAM is another. Reducing number of open Tabs in...
It's all good. Thanks!!
Still working on minimizing boot.wim ... I have 2 old machines that are maxed out at 4 GB RAM but one is my Netflix machine and the other is a WinXP laptop that can boot...
Thanks KYHI for looking into that !
I was Googling at StackOverflow this morning to see if there was an easy alternative to showing %FolderSize% variable and 32bit arithmetic. Not really.
At...
@Kyhi
I didn't see your reply earlier, so just did an ISO build now.
I used your replacement [section]
Yes, its a negative number (attached)
and when the build finished, all my added...
In preparing for an eventual run-flat build, I have been removing large plugins (especially those without registry sections) from boot.wim by utilising the "ISO root folders" button, and manually...
I don't know if this will help . I don't see the Hot Swap icon in your tray. On my setup, left click HotSwap shows the removable USB devices with caption to "Safely hotswap blah blah name of device"....
Kyhi,
In case anyone hasn't mentioned it, I was poking around and trying out Magnify, which is usually in Accessability. There was no checkbox option in BuildCore, but the only way I got Magnify to...
I hadn't noticed, but would it have anything to do with Volume Shadow Service?
Thanks!!!!
Kyhi,
Even after updating PowerShellCore to 7.2.1 it still wouldn't allow DoubleClicking a PS1 file to RUN IT,
and .ps1 files still had "blank sheet of paper icon'. I added registry...
I knew about PCPacker/XPE Packer.
I meant in my nonworking AddShortcut -with-icon line I posted, there were 3 commas in a row, which now needs only 2 commas. That made the difference in getting...
Kewl!! Thanks for looking into that so quickly.
With the smaller QL icons, I fit usually about 25 in Quicklaunch tray in real Win10 and in Win10PESE. Includes shortcuts to most used apps, ShowDesktop, certain DriveLtrs like C, X,Y,. In real Win10...
This plugin adds the QuickLaunch toolbar to the build. Although XPE doesn't seem to have a QuickLaunch option anywhere, I didn't want to try messing with BuildCore and config.script, so this is named...
