Win 10 ver 2004. It seems like it is trying to go to sleep because it goes to a black screen for about 10 seconds, then goes to the lock screen. (If on the other hand I click the Username/Lock it...
Thanks for the responses.
Berton, it did not tell me how many bad clusters. I was running Windows Image from File History, and when it completed it said it had found bad clusters, and said it did...
Win 10 ver 2004
When running a Windows Image it gave me a message that it detected bad clusters.
I opened a cmd prompt and ran chkdsk /r. It was in Stage 4 with 2 hours left when it rebooted on...
FWIW, I received this message as an Admin
I, too, saw that same message right after upgrading to 1903, but then it went away on its own at some point.
If you have exhausted all options and just have to get it working, then a Reset may be the way to go. Make sure you have backed up your user files to external media, although theoretically they will...
The AR is the ratio of height to width. By your own description, that is exactly what you do want to change.
I'd run a memory diagnostic, maybe a hard drive diagnostic too. To rule those out.
Perhaps some sort of power issue is causing it to shut down when sleeping.
When you return, before you turn it on, is the power light flashing, like I assume it should be during sleep? Or is it...
Take a look in Power Options and see what action is taken when the lid is closed.

This is not really a cure, more of a workaround, but my Asus laptop would drain the battery after about 2-3 days of sleep. So I just hibernate it.
Thanks for the info. I found the UEFI option in the custom boot menu, and selected it. Win 10 is installing now. Thanks
I created a flash drive using the MCT. But when I boot my laptop using it and try to install Windows 10, it says it cannot do it because the drive is GPT. I thought the MCT could create a flash drive...
Is the WLM folder that you tried importing located in the windows.old folder? If so, how large is the folder? Is the Microsoft system backup that you used to back up the system just the regular...
Perhaps it is in the c:\\ windows.old folder in the above stated folder? Edit: let me clarify that. The upgrade creates a c:\\windows.old folder. Look in there for the above stated folder.
Did you look in C:\Users\ logon \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail, for your content?
As far as I know, Hibernation and shutdown are supposed to be same amount of battery usage. If you are using 10% per day in hibernation, then maybe the computer is not really hibernating, or maybe...
How fast does the Macbook discharge when it is completely off?
After the reset everything seems to be running ok. I've put Office and Carbonite back on, I am holding off on Kaspersky for a while.
Yes I will keep this in mind. But if the problems reoccurs it...
Thanks for the info. So the repair step is not unusual on a system reset? I've not seen that happen before.
The day before this happened I installed Kaspersky Internet Security, Carbonite and...
My friend's 2 day old Toshiba laptop started giving System Thread Exception Not Handled error, and went into a rebooting loop. I researched this on the web, but none of the usual fixes for this...
If the memory test comes up clean, use Clean Boot to diagnose the problem. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
I would go to Start and search "Windows Memory Diagnostic" and run it. It will reboot and run the test before Windows starts. Note: it is supposed to give you the results when Windows opens again,...
