Windows 10 freezing from high disk usage

So a few days ago I was using my Acer spin 3 laptop running windows 10 and it randomly froze forcing me to hold the power button to shut down. I turn it back on within 10 minutes of using it freezes again. And thats how its been since. So I tried various solutions until I noticed in task manager it shows 100% disk usage as soon as I startup. So I tried more solutions related to that from disabling services and different scans but nothing works the disk usage remains the same. Then I boot in safe mode and no matter how long I use it my laptop doesn't freeze! I figure this means it's not a hardware problem it's something with the software.

Looking at event viewer I noticed errors named event id 17 and id 219 and the device named is a port for the network adapter. Now I'm thinking that it's some driver that's messed up and causing it to crash which is why it doesn't freeze in safe mode. People online say to run windows update to fix this but I can only access windows in normal mode for less than 10 minutes before it freezes, no time to download let alone install an update. I've tried numerous solutions I've found online nothing has worked. Now I'm stuck with barely an idea of what's wrong and no idea how to fix it. My only guess is it's something related to the high disk usage ans driver updates.

    How old is your laptop?
Do you have a hardware monitor to check temperatures?
What Windows version you're running (type winver)?

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and ask if you want to schedule to next start = yes
    Restart
Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc
