Win 10 networking to an XP computer has changed

I know you mean well but some of your networking answers either are so full of obfuscation or actually meaningless solutions for people trying to solve stuff who usually aren't specialist Network gurus -- a bit of more practical advice "to the great unwashed" probably would be better !!!

Anyway as I've showed above there's a perfectly good XP VM having no problems whatsoever in accessing the latest W10 build -- just read what I did --I'm not the most "techie" guy around but I can usually step people through relatively easy ways to sort things out (my training was "old School type Engineer")

I read your other post and it seems you're wanting us to enable SSP / NTLM on the XP machine. Is this what you were suggesting?

1. Click Administrative Tools.
   
2. Click Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Options > Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level.
   
3. Click Send LM& NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.

I'm not sure what SSP is? I saw references to SSO is that what you meant?

enable it and it should work

Note though keep XP machine reasonably isolated on your LAN as these days there's minimal security for XP any more.

Make sure that everything in these steps are enabled on the XP machine and SMBv1 settings are all checked by to remove SMBv1 on the Windows 10 machines.

So do you think you meant to say SSP? If so is that a different setting than NTLM? If so I didn't do that. Here's what I did:
