I do not do legacy versions. I have tried to get you guys to understand how it works in current, stable official release of Windows 10.
But: even if we talked about 1511, it too has the license (even the product key one) stored digitally on MS activation servers and does not need a product key when upgraded because of that digital signature of the hardware.

So how do I upgrade the current install that says "not activated"? The one that was already activated on that PC.

Note that we are talking here only about systems that have not been previously upgraded to Win 10 and then rolled back to Win 7 or 8.
Scenario:
Computer A is upgraded from a genuine Win 7 or 8 to Windows 10. Activated and digital entitled.
A bootable media is created.
I change Computer A's motherboard to a new one but not the same make and model.
I then use the same bootable...
I don't want to update to W10 yet and I have read that I cannot keep my current W7 installation along with a free upgraded a W10 from the same W7 key.
So, if I do the free upgrade from W7 to W10 and then go back to W7, will I keep the free upgrade...
