I have a few questions:
1. Are you sure your DVD drive is not Double-Layer? All the DVD drives I have bought since maybe 2007 have been Double-Layer. Of course you need special Double-Layer DVD+R DL discs to take advantage of this.

2. You did use Media Creation Tool to create the Windows 10 USB flash drive?
If you look at the USB flash drive when done you should see this:
3. Are you sure you can't boot your computer with a USB flash drive?
I just created a Windows 10 20H2 bootable flash drive using the Media Creation Tool
I used an old SandDisk Cruzer Glide 16GB flash drive
I booted my 11 year old Dell Latitude E6410 using the flash drive
During the boot I hit F12 to bring up the Boot Menu
I selected USB Storage Device
I presses the Enter key
After a couple minutes I got the Windows 10 Setup menu
If you used the Media Creation tool, it is FAT32. If you downloaded the tool and copied it to an existing stick, I suggest you download the tool and double-click it on a working Windows computer. Please be advised that everything on the stick will be erased.

You can't just copy anything to a stick. This will never work.
You must use something like the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable flash drive with Windows 10 on it.

As you have a 16GB USB, download the version of the 64-bit ISO you want using one of the following . . .
ISO Resources - Including MS Servers:

> UUP Dump - Download UUP Files from Windows Update Servers with Ease.
Then create aBootable USBby using the following . . .

You canNOTjust copy the files to the USB, you have to burn the ISO to the USB.

Did the Media Creation Tool directly created the USB Installation files or did you downloaded the iso file and then transferred to the USB drive?
Are you trying to boot the Win 10 installation as Legacy or UEFI?

I have created the Windows 10 setup disk with both the Media Creation Tool directly and Rufus from ISO file.
Both ways work but I recommend the Media Creation Tool because it is the much easier choice.
A 16GB flash drive was used because that was I had lying around. A 8GB flash drive is all that is needed. The space used was a little more than 4.7GB.
A Double-Sided DVD disk is what is needed for Windows 10 64-bit. Their capacity is 8.5GB. That is because regular DVDs are not quite large enough.
The ISO file is normally not needed unless you are going to burn a DVD.
Using the Media Creation Tool will download what is needed from Microsoft when creating the USB flash drive.
If you really want to do it the hard way and just happen to have the Windows 10 ISO file you can use it with Rufus to create a Windows 10 bootable USB flash drive. Just follow the instruction listed here.
Hi guys sorry i have been away from this forum for a while as i have been busy at home.
Well the problem is now almost sorted now after several tries to make a boot usb with the media creation tool and having several unsuccessful tries, i took the advice for this thread and go a new Sandisk USB and that worked just fine with the media creation tool and and my laptop booted from it just fine but in only 1 of the 4 usb sockets.
So my laptop is up and running now
But one more question if i can i have been using true image 2020 to make a regular full backup, and after a problem i did a full restore using a true image backup and that stuffed my laptop so i had to wtart all over again with a fresh install of widows.
SO what software do you guys recommend to make full backup of my C: drive please as i done want to go through this again please
