    What specific games???

What specific game(s) are you having issues with? Because it could actually be the game and nothing else. Especially if this is an older game. Been there, seen that... a few times.

And if you're talking MW (Morrow Wind) and CS-GO (Counter Strike: Global Offensive), yeah, those game are prone to do that, and has noting to do with anything but the game's resolution options (or lack thereof). Example...

Also, if the game has an aspect ratio option like Half-Life as shown in my guide here (option 9 - Adjust your display settings...), you need to choose the correct one to get full screen!

The bottom line the issue may not be more then anything other than the game's settings (or lake of) themselves. So again, what specific games???

Sorry if it wasn’t clear, by MW I was referring to the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare

As for other games I tested apart from those 2, I’ve tried it with PAYDAY 2 and Project CARS 2, Code Vein as well. Also tried it with Minecraft but that’s a weird one cause sometimes it works full screen but other times it has the same issue. If it also adds to anything, I also picked a random VN/game (I just picked Doki Doki Literature Cllub) and tried it and that one works fine

It could be this problem I have due to an error with cldflt.sys Crash Due to cldflt.sys on Exiting a 3D Game

A new version of cldflt.sys was issued with last week's cumulative update. I haven't had time yet to check whether that fixes the problem. You can try disabling cldflt.sys before running a game to see if that fixes the issue.
I don’t think it’s that file. All the logs I’ve checked point towards the nvlddmkm.sys file

I can't see those games (Call of Duty - MW, Payday 2, and Modern Cars 2) refusing to run in full screen mode unless you have a game setting wrong or quite possibly you're screen resolution is wrong? With that - what is the screen resolution supposed to be, and what do you actually have it set to?

Also is this a desktop monitor or a laptop monitor. If it's a desktop, do you have the correct driver installed?

The other question I have to ask is are those paid or cracked games?

The nvlddmkm.sys is the Nvidia windows driver. Assuming it isn't a config issue with those games, which you could check on the game forums to see if your issue is mentioned with any potential fix, I suggest that you download the Nvidia Studio driver for your GPU then disconnect from the internet and restart in safe mode.
Use DDU to remove current driver then restart still without any internet and check that the Microsoft Basic driver is listed for your GPU in device manager, then install the studio driver, restart, turn internet back on and try the games again.
There is not a lot of difference between the standard and studio drivers other than studio are tested to be stable with certain content creation applications.
If the issue you are getting is with the latest drivers you could try older drivers but to be honest older drivers have bugs/ issues that is why they get updated, but also as forum members often say "latest is not necessarily best".

Did you reload the mobo chip set drivers after reinstalling Windows? I'm just wondering because that has cause me similar grief in the past because I just forget about them....

To clarify, the games itself can boot up into fullscreen mode with no issues. I.e., I can freely navigate the menus with no problems whatsoever. It is when I actually go in game like say playing in a world in Minecraft or starting a race in PC2 where it's fine for a few minutes before it cuts to a blackscreen. Only with MW (only in the sub-menu's like Multiplayer,Coop etc) and PAYDAY 2 does the game cut to black after a couple of minutes in the actual menu screen

But I am running each game in native 4k (3840x2160). I tested various resolutions with PCARS2, Windowed mode works fine with any resolution, full screen has that error whether it's 4k or 1080p

It is a desktop monitor. Just checked and I do have the correct driver installed

As for the games themselves, all the ones that I tested were legit ones with the exception of PCARS2 and Code Vein which were cracked ones

Will definitely try the Studio drivers when I get time and get back to you. As for your previous question about checking Event Viewer (sorry I didn't reply to that lol) I did end up checking it, but there was nothing useful that came up since the only errors were saying stuff like could not create dumpfile and the system shut down unexpectidely etc. It was only through Reliability Manager did I find the nvlddmkm.sys

I don't think I did? Could you clarify what you mean by reloading mobo chip set drivers?

You mentioned unable to create dump file, so just a thought, have you disabled Windows Page File? If so enable it (allow Windows to manage it) and try the games again. If you have a page file set ignore this and just try the studio drivers (without installing GeForce Experience, just the driver).

That's an issue we can't help with as the issue could also be due to the game being pirated. Also the rules here (and one I endorse) do not allow for support or discussion of pirated software.

As far as the other legit games, you might check that they support 4K monitors, they should, but...

Anyway I've gone as far as I can with this so good luck.

    Peace:)

Finally got back from exams so I had time to try out the studio drivers, but still the same issue. Maybe my install wasn't a completely fresh install so I'll try a completely fresh one tomorrow and get back

    Thanks I guess?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Ok weird update.

I decided to try out another known working GPU, just to make sure that the problem isn’t actually GPU related after all. So I plugged it in, installed the latest drivers and lo and behold, everything worked. Just to really confirm I decided to test the main GPU again and see if it once again crashed so I could deduce that it would turn out to be a GPU fault. So I replugged the original GPU, installed drivers and....it actually worked

Now here’s the weird part. While games work now, the computer itself has suddenly become veryyyy laggy. Even on the desktop just moving the cursor causes lots of lag. On top of that, sometimes the computer just randomly restarts by itself. There’s no blue screen or any error sort of indicator, it just black screens and then restarts. Even in games (which also experience this hella lag) I can play for a little bit before it just randomly restarts. All the error logs in Reliability History and whatnot just say stuff like “The system restart was unexpected” so not much to deduce from there

Originally when I was doing these GPU tests I didn’t actually uninstall the previous drivers before reinstalling them, so I thought that was the culprit. However upon clean uninstalling using DDU and reinstalling, its still the same. I guess one problem is fixed but now there seems to be another problem lol?

I'm wondering if maybe your PSU is underpowered when the GPU is under load, or might even be failing. Anyway you can swap it for a more powerful one or test it?
