Auto sleep not working in last few days

There is something stopping Windows auto-sleeping for me in the last few days.

The screen goes blank, but then something brings it back to life before my PC sleeps. I've looked at powercfg -requests - lastwake etc. but can't see anything.

It's not USB controllers either which has cost me issues in the past, as I have tried with them disconnected.

Any ideas on this? Driving me mad.

Hello @imacken, can you please post what the result of those two commands was anyway.

    - - - Updated - - -

If using Ethernet, disable the wake on LAN option to rule that out.

    - - - Updated - - -

See Wake Source in Windows 10 check the Event Viewer for clues too.

    - - - Updated - - -

See what's allowed to wake up the PC:

Check the Windows Update history and see if the problem started around any particular update installation.

Perform clean boot state to find out if any one of startup services or programs causing the problem.

Have a look in Event viewer to see if it is actually achieving sleep or not.

This is the Event viewer, Custom view definition that I use to monitor sleeping/hibernating & waking: Power - Sleep-Hibernate transitions.zip
    - Unzip it
    - In Event viewer click on Import Custom view [on the right-hand side], browse to & select the now-unzipped .xml file and you'll see the new entry in your Custom views [the list on the left-hand side].

You will normally find Event viewer's General pane {in the bottom-half of the window} to be the most informative one.
    - In the case of resuming from sleep / hibernate, the Details pane comes into play.
    - The General pane does not tell you whether you have resumed from sleep or from hibernate.
    - The Details pane does. It records 'TargetState' 4 for resuming from sleep & 5 for resuming from hibernate.

    All the best,
    Denis

Thanks guys, sorry about late reply, but been out and about today.
So, this seems to be al most a random thing. Most of the time, everything is OK, but then it stops working again.
Thakns Try3, I tried the Custom View in Event Viewer, and everything seemed OK, except for this 'Firmware S3 times. ResumeCount: 10, FullResume: 2631, AverageResume: 2629' appearing from time to time. Does that mean anything to anyone?

steve108, the results of the commands are:
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> powercfg -requestsDISPLAY:None.SYSTEM:None.AWAYMODE:None.EXECUTION:None.PERFBOOST:None.ACTIVELOCKSCREEN:None.

PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> powercfg -lastwakeWake History Count - 1Wake History [0] Wake Source Count - 1 Wake Source [0] Type: Device Instance Path: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_06ED&SUBSYS_86941043&REV_00\3&11583659&0&A0 Friendly Name: Intel(R) USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft) Description: USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller Manufacturer: Generic USB xHCI Host Controller

This was me waking it with my keyboard.
I already had the Ethernet adaptor set to not allow it to wake.

Thanks for all your suggestions so far, guys.
FreeBooter - Haven't tried the clean boot, but I will when the issue returns, probably in the morning.

    Thanks for the reply.
You can try posting your copied screen text within [code] blocks to try and make it look better. End block should have a "/" before "code" .

    That's EventID 131.
It appears just before every resume EventID 1 if it has resumed from sleep.
It is simply a count of the number of times it has resumed from sleep since the last reboot.
I have never seen anything like those FullResume: 2631, AverageResume: 2629 results. Mine are always 0 or 1. I have never tried to find out what these numbers mean.

Guys, I'm resurrecting this thread as the issue has started happening again after a period of being OK.
Any further thoughts on this? I still can't see anything in the Event Viewer that I didn't mention above.
    Any help appreciated.

    still nothing in powercfg /requests?

I don't know if it's any help, but i'll chime in with what solved my sleeping problems:

During the last couple of days my PC also suddenly didn't want to go to sleep either, but powercfg /requests showed
MoUsoCoreWorker as the cause. A restart solved the problem.

Earlier when i had problems with pc not sleeping it was usually that the pc was waking up immediately after going to sleep. This was caused by my realtek network adapter. The problem was solved by disabling "wake up by magic package" and "wake up by pattern recognition" in the "advanced" tab for the network adapter in device manager.

Thanks for that. Still nothing in powercfg /requests.
I have seen the MoUsoCoreWorker issue in the past. That seems to relate to Windows Update service. To solve that one, I go to Services and stop that service. Then Start and Restart.
I'm now trying your suggestion about disabling options in DM for my Intel network adaptor.
Let's see if that makes a difference.
