@NickosD, have you looked in your OneDrive Pictures\Screenshots yet? Is is saving there rather than your user folder's Pictures\Screenshots?

I use windows key + print screen. It saves it to pictures/screenshots. The only thing that I notice now is that the screen doesn't dim when you hit the keys. So your not sure it worked. But they are there in screenshots. I'll run dism to see if that makes a difference.

Update: Works fine now. I had to turn animations in windows back on. I had turned it off for some reason. Can't remember why. But I went into control panel/system/advanced/settings and checked it back on.

Win key plus print screen saves to the clip board
if your not in a hurry you can open Paint and paste it . then save it as
    whatever you want.
Wrong. The print screen button saves the image on clipboard (you can try it yourself). Pressing win key + print button, also saves the image on clipboard, but mainly you use it to auto save it in pictures/screenshot folder

I'm a fan of snipping tool, use my downloads folder for saving. Windows Button with PrtSc needs an extra step, but so does changing the name. Both work but Snipping tool is more versatile.
I dont like it. I also want to take in game screenshots, so it's not convenient

OneDrive is off. But I checked anyway

I dont understand why you need proof of what I'm saying, but here you go

    Nickos,

I wasn't after proof. I was after the data.

If %UserProfile%\Pictures\Screenshots exists but the screenshots are not being saved there then Windows is not following its own rules.

I don't think that OneDrive can be a factor because that Registry value would be different. I realise some of the other values refer to OneDrive [including some that are related to the Pictures folder] but the Screenshots entry is supposed to be independent of the others.

    I suggest -
1 In File explorer address bar, enter %UserProfile%\Pictures\Screenshots just to make sure there is no problem with the variable %UserProfile% or the rest of the folder path
2 See if the problem is also apparent in Safe mode
3 Create a new user for test purposes and see if it also suffers from the problem
4 If the above tests are all alright then run a Repair install [aka InPlace Upgrade] Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials

I assume that you have not done any non-standard user folder relocations i.e. I assume that %UserProfile% is the same as C:\Users\%UserName%

Interesting. I do NOT have that {B7BEDE81-DF94-4682-A7D8-57A52620B86F} string as you can see here....

    Not able to save screenshots-screenshot-2-.png

...never the less, WinKey+PrtScrn does save a screenshot to Pictures\Screenshots. The above is one I just made (1909, 18363.752).

Edit: what I DO have is the key:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{b 7bede81-df94-4682-a7d8-57a52620b86f}

Bree - Windows 10 used to create the Screenshots entry within User shell folders when the facility was used for the first time. It was one of several entries that got made when their facilities were used. I have no idea why yours is not there [other than a completely uninformed thought that it might be an Insider-related issue with Build 752].

No, 18363.752 is not an insider build, it is the current public CU for 1903/1909. This machine was a clean install of RTM 1909 about a month ago.

    KB4541335 CU Win 10 v1903 build 18362.752 and v1909 build 18363.752

My System One below, a machine that took the free upgrade in 2015 and been through every upgrade since, now on 18363.720, also has no screenshots entry in its User shell folders...

    Not able to save screenshots-image.png

...even though its screenshot index is now up to 44. Its Pictures\Screenshots\Screenshot (1).png is dated January 2017.

    Nickos,

Bree's posts demonstrate that Windows behaviour has changed so none of my references to the Registry were valid. In other words, I am no use to you at all.

    Best of luck,

    Bree,

I have just checked two user accounts on each of three computers and they all show that Registry entry.

I also recall once setting up a new Windows 10 installation during which I deliberately looked at the User shell folders entries then used Screenshots for the first time and then looked again to witness that entry appearing in the Registry.

So I have no idea what is going on.
