I have always used whichever driver W10 installed automatically. Apparently, my card Radeon HD 4000 series isn't supported in W10 (Windows® 10 Driver Support for AMD Radeon™ Graphics Products
) and W10 will install a basic driver.

Now, obviously, this was the case back when everything worked fine and is the case now, so the only thing that might have changed is that this basic driver which W10 installs might have changed.

I've no idea what to do now.

If your graphics card is unsupported so you have no option of using any particular (older) driver, then if your PC is still worth it, I guess you'd need to get a Win 10 compatible card.

Or you could use an older Windows OS....

Just to confirm, has your PC ever worked properly with any build of Win 10?

You said (you've not given full details as far I can see very quickly)
The PC is quite old, don't remember exactly how old. It's an Athlon II x2 250 3Ghz
    - so there's no guarantee you can keep updating and upgrading Windows and it still be compatible.

Yes, it worked fine for about 3 years.

    Please see post #7.

Update the "My Computer" section on the Ten Forums website.
Post a URL or hyperlink into the thread for the computer manufactures / motherboard manufacturer's drivers.

Once these are performed there may be information that can be seen or used to assist with the troubleshooting.

There are other methods to evaluate the computer environment after these preliminary steps.

Which drivers were installed from websites that automatically update drivers?

    Hey Alfred001,
Have you tried downloading the Win8.1 graphics driver for your Radeon HD 4000 series from AMD Drivers and Support for Radeon, Radeon Pro, FirePro, APU, CPU, Ryzen, desktops, laptops and see if you can install it using compatibility mode ?

Note: Just drill down till you get to your specific card .. Graphics > AMD Radeon HD > ATI Radeon HD 4000 series > Your Card
