Each feature update has OS changes within. Could be the way these conflicts are being handled.

If you don't start any Ham software does IE run videos okay.

I like Chrome and I use FF as my alternate. The funniest things have us loving or hating products. I've used Chrome for ever and back then it was one browser I could run on my MAC, on iOS and Windows.

It had the ability to Sync the experience before the others but now they all do it and you can install Edge on iOS.

    World changes fast.

Still I think the way Chrome works, how you access settings and the sync makes it my choice.

You likely have other devices so you can consider how will this new browser work on it.

Yes, using Chrome means Google has more info on me.

Hi BlueFlame. Welcome to the TenForums @BlueFlame

It is always a good idea to start a new thread.

When you say you have the exact same issue, maybe you could describe yours and how you experience it? What are you doing, how long does it take to show?

What version are you on? right click start, type winver, enter.

What browser and are you running old software too?

Have you done an sfc /scannow

How much free space have you got on c: ?

Are there any driver issues in Device Manager.

My "go to" is to run HDD Drive Diagnostics as that is the most common thing to fail on a computer. If you are having what you believe to be unusual problems, especially on an older pc, or even a newish pc, it could just be that the drive has become damaged for some reason.

Thanks for responding. I mean it happens randomly and while different applications are active. It wasn't present before when I was on 1709. I've done all the basic troubleshooting and I've reinstalled windows twice.

What build of 1709 are on?

So just confirming you did everything I listed above.

    Are you running older software?

Not saying to update BIOS but is a newer one available from vendor?

    Check your drivers.

To narrow this down you will have to start writing down what was run and when it happened.

I was on the latest 1709 build without any problems. There isn't a new bios I can update to. I've used DDU to reinstall my gpu dirvers (using AMD btw).

I think I've managed to figure out when it happens and there are two instances.
The first is when I have a specific application running in the background but minimized (so far Discord and the League of Legend client) and I don't touch my PC for 5 mins (that is the time it takes for my screen saver to activate). When I come back and start using the PC the screensaver has not been activated and the gradual freezing beings with only Firefox working. I finally managed to work around this by disabling "lock screen" in the power options (disabling hibernate and sleep didn't work).

The second instance is again when I have Discord or the League client running in the background and I watch a youtube video in full screen. When it happens like this even Firefox doesn't work so I just have to restart the PC. This case happens much less frequently than the first but it's still very annoying.

It's worth mentioning that in both cases it has happened with only Discord being active and in such cases if I'm fast enough and kill Discord in the task manager, my screen goes black for a second but then comes back and the PC is fine without having to restart it.

For some reason my system no longer has logs even though everything is enabled. This is the last log from 4 months ago:

crash dump file: C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG\WATCHDOG-20180521-1439.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: atikmpag.sys (0xFFFFF8054DFEFE3C) Bugcheck code: 0x117 (0xFFFFA205540DC230, 0xFFFFF8054DFEFE3C, 0x0, 0x494) Error: VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED file path: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\c0327684.inf_amd64_76add9a22b21deb6\B327831\atikmpag. sys product: AMD driver company: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. description: AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver Bug check description: This indicates that the display driver failed to respond in a timely fashion. A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: atikmpag.sys (AMD multi-vendor Miniport Driver, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.). Google query: atikmpag.sys Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED

What's funny is that some people were recommending copying the atikmpag.sys file from the extracted AMD folder and replacing the existing file in the System32/drivers folder, but the atikmpag.sys file isn't even present in the System32/drivers folder on my PC.
