Can I change drive "numbers" for a more useful display?
The takeaway is that modifications to the drive enumeration order would have to be done in BIOS. OK, does anyone know of a way to submit a feature request to ASUS that doesn't go into a black hole?
Reading over your other thread and determining what you mean here its because of SCSI protocol and is something that defines as a standard why the drives are named like this, it would be a misnomer if the Bios or any Bios was to rename the drives from the controller as its supposed to be correct.
I don't know the entirety of it but the actual SATA ports will be named this way physically on the controller the Motherboard will just loop over these names starting with the the port number and then the actual physical name of the drive,
if it was to change this format then it would be a liability same sort of logic like naming a Virus.exe, NotVirus.exe.
This is also something that goes back 30 to 40 years and its always been like this. I don't even think they would consider your ticket it would just get thrown out.
