Help. Uninstalled Samsung Nvme 960 driver. Now can’t boot to windows

FYI, I have a 970 EVO SSD and was able to locate both secnvme.sys and oem53.inf files using a Command Prompt.
In your first post you mentioned Command Prompt as an option.

It may be possible that the failure to boot is a separate problem.

These are some options:

1) custom install > requires reinstallation of drivers and applications
Files are saved to windows.old and windows.old is restored

2) clean install after backing up files

3) troubleshoot the failure to boot with typical windows RE troubleshooting steps

4) trial and error steps using Kyhi boot rescue

5) testing the drive

Thank you for the help. Maybe I should of waited but I went ahead and tried to do a system image restore.. after 1 minute I clicked on canceled cause I was worried it might be installing and erased files from a different drive. So I disconnected all my hard drives and tried again but after like 10 seconds..

I got an error on system image recovery saying “the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and volume is not corrupted”

So I tried doing a “reset pc” option keep all my files but delete apps and settings. It got to like 20 percent then rebooted my pc and kicked me to some PE ENVIRONMENT BLUE screen setup. So I tried Reset pc” delete all files and apps and nothing happened when I clicked on it. Just stayed on the same blue screen

I called My pc vendor Origin and they mentioned to do a clean reinstall if my system image backup is not working. They told me to Download Windows 10 media creation tool and install it on usb stick.. and do a install of that..

After booting from the usb stick. I tried once again the restore system image file option but got this error

“Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has a different firmware. The system image was created on a computer using EFI and this computer is using bios” anyone know a workaround for that or should I indeed do a clean install and try the system image restore again? Origins told me if I did a clean Install that my system image restore file may no longer work. It has all my files and programs settings. So really it’s my only backup

A clean install allows you to change the BIOS settings which will change the drive partition structure on the new installation.
UEFI native (without CSM) > GPT
UEFI hybrid (with CSM) > MBR
Legacy > MBR

A custom install allows you to create windows.old to backup files.
Restoring of Windows.old is then performed with the current partition structure.
Drivers and applications need to be reinstalled.

Thanks again for the advice. Just to update you guys. So I was told to use select uefi Samsung flash drive when booting and to change some settings on bios to uefi instead of legacy. I have Asus uefi utility bios and selected options to boot uefi first. Not sure if it was that or me selecting uefi Samsung flash drive to boot from...

But I tried the option to restore windows system image again and this time it’s been 10 minutes so far with no errors.. says “restoring disk c:” with a moving green loading bar.

A tip for the future - do not use Windows built-in imaging for your backups. Use a reliable program such as Macrium Reflect Free. Even Microsoft recommends that you not use the built-in utility but use a third party backup program instead.
