Bsod loop due to full disc, stop code inaccessible device.

Please perform the following steps:

1) Find 3 flash drives that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

2) Make tools that can be used to recover important files, test the drives, and troubleshoot

3) On a working computer:

a) create a new bootable windows 10 iso:

b) bootable Ubuntu flash drive:

4) Indicate whether you want to:
a) continue troubleshooting
b) perform a reset save files equivalent (reinstall drivers and applications)
c) perform a clean install (reinstall drivers and applications, restore backed up files)

File backup is going to take a while longer

Do I need b and c if we're giving up troubleshooting? I don't know what is left we can do. Is there a worry that a clean install might make things worse if the problem is of a particular type?

Incedentally, it's never occurred to me before as I upgraded to Windows 10 when it was free, but guides I'm looking at are saying I might need a product key during installation. Is this going to be a problem?

Did you decide on giving up troubleshooting?
Clean install can only make things better unless the computer is obsolete without drivers.
If the Windows 10 version is properly licensed and has performed updates it should have its license on Microsoft servers.
There are more options for troubleshooting, saving important files, checking drives, etc. when you have tools available.

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, USB wireless network card, etc.)

I don't have access to the system specs because I can't boot into it to check. I'm worried about taking it apart, I've never done it before.

I'd like to troubleshooot but it sounds like it's going to be difficult and I don't want to end up wasting your time giving step by step instructions to a clumsy dolt like me!

I'm not sure what I stand to lose at the moment having backed up the whole windows partition and much of the d drive, probably some game saves and applications that are probably replaceable.

The U drive, though mysterious and inscrutable, is too small to have a great deal of value on it. Or maybe there is something important that could be there? It would be interesting to know what is going on anyway.

Which steps have been completed for step #3 ?

None, my last backups have just now finished and I need to get hold of a couple more drives. I have large sd cards and a converter but they're likely full and who knows where. I have one 32gb USB to hand that's empty, that was what I would use for the windows iso. Did I miss any thing? I've made lots of space on c and d

Drives may have multiple partitions or volumes.
The files that are important are typically in users folders.
So backing up users folders allow you to perform a clean install.
A reset save files or reset save files equivalent allows you to not backup files.
However backing up files is an extra layer of protection.

Kyhi and Ubuntu allow you to backup files.
And with each you can test the drive by running software tools.

A Windows 10 iso should allow you to perform a reset save files equivalent after the hardware is tested.

If you prefer to troubleshoot then find a camera or smartphone camera to take pictures of commands and results and post images into the thread.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you; making the installation USB was very troublesome because of the limited systems I had available. I finally managed to get the iso to fully download (had to do it on my phone in the end) and use rufus to create the USB from a new drive I bought yesterday.

I've just started trying to reinstall windows on the pc, but encounter the following problem.

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.

So there seem to be various possible fixes for this, though I don't know why there is a discrepancy with the bios here. What's going to be easiest for me? Remake the USB with different settings in rufus, or attempt to change the settings on the pc? I was going to just dive in and wipe/repartition the disk, but I'm afraid I'll lose my rights to install windows if there isn't a current install for the server to check it against

For step #3a

Please use the Microsoft website to create the iso.
It will be in a format that can be used for both MBR and GPT.

Once you have created the iso it can be used on any PC.

I downloaded the iso directly onto my phone, it was the only way I could get it to work. The media creation tool would not work on my partner's computer because apparently the hard drive is too small. I think there's something wrong there, she doesn't even have room to update windows after removing all her files and apps. That's the only other computer here though so it was my only option. Unfortunately the media creation tool has its reasons for not working in the bootable sd card I've been using to troubleshoot from.

I guess the only option is to find a computer to borrow :/
