Help with a very bad VSS issue. Cannot find answer anywhere

There is no compelling reason to buy Macrium. The Free version does everything you need to be able to back up and restore system images and there's no time limit on using it. The Premium features that 'paid-for' will unlock are useful, but not essential. I used Free for two years before buying it.

I didn't exactly choose Macrium over Acronis. When I was looking for an alternative to Backup & Restore Macrium Reflect Free was the first I tried. I found it worked well and did everything I needed, so never bothered to test anything else.

Do you remember how you did it? I still have not been able to fix it and ive been trying every day. Registry edits, command prompt stuff, downloading VSS fixing software. Nothing seems to work. One error just leads to another error and its like this never ending rabbit hole. The most recent error im getting is something about there being an unexpected error in the property page and this COM server one: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

So ive been trying to do this enable session 0 thing, which i have absolutely no idea what it is. But i'm at my wits end. So I just installed the SSD anyways and everything went fine. I have yet to clone over my OS. I tried using macrium for a second and im a little confused about what to do

So i got to the part where i drag and drop partitions but theyre to big, I just want my OS on my 35gb SSD and maybe a game or tow. But i have no idea what these other partitions are and which ones i need to clone and which ones can stay. Then if i go to resize them, how do i know how much to resize. If i shrink it too much do i lose files?

So thats all i can fit if i have all 5 of them selected, but that cant be right If i want all of my other files on my 1tb HDD

So i was comparing my registry and i see this, the ID is the same but im missing the Enum folder Does anyone know what thats for and if that would be an issue?

So you reinstalled acronis, uninstalled macrium, then uninstalled acronis without the cleanup tool, Then finally reinstalled macrium and that got it working again?

I just created a thread with the identical issue. I wonder if it has to do with the latest versions. I updated my Macrium and it now has VSS options in the menu to view the Windows errors and also to run the VSSFix utility automatically from the "Other Tasks" menu. This did not help me. No matter what I do I get those errors. I am not sure about the registry fix , I would think the utility would take of that.

Please let me know if you made any progress on this error.

I haven’t seen the other thread that you created so a can’t comment on comparing the two. If you are able to successfully create backups then I would ignore the VSS errors in the logs. VSS errors seen to happens in some cases and unless they result in failed images then you’re waisting your time trying to chase them down. Just my opinion.

They result in failed images. It prevents me from creating backups within Windows 10. Its not just errors, its failure. Yes , I can boot to the recovery USB but that is severely limiting with respect to features. For example you cannot do a differential backup, work with backup definition xml files etc

I am curious if IIEleven had any success
