KB5034441 fails to update on one PC but fine on an identical PC

    Are there these 3 files
    boot.sdi
    ReAgent.xml
    Winre.wim


    Only if not type:
    dir /a /s c:\Windows\System32\winre.wim

    It should list the file in ==> c:\Windows\System32\Recovery

    Results of V2 Log Collector


    All of the steps in Post 5 completed with results above in posts 7 and 9. Results of the v2 log collector are attached. Thanks!

    I did the steps in Post #11 and those files are not found. I only see the one xml file. Here is the result of the commands you suggested:

    DiskPart successfully assigned the drive letter or mount point.

    DISKPART> exit

    Leaving DiskPart...

    The system cannot find the file specified.

    Some findings including the failed update:

    a) two unexpected shutdowns and restarts without BSOD

    b) out of date BIOS

    c) AMD GPU hang



    1) Please create a new folder on the desktop


    2) Download to the desktop folder: Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows 10 iso)

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

    3) Make an up to date Macrium image


    4) The BIOS Version/Date HP Q06 Ver. 02.17.00, 12/29/2021

    Upgrade the BIOS: 2.17 > 2.23

    5) Upgrade AMD GPU:

    6) Temporarily uninstall Sophos

    7) Place the computer into clean boot

    Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts


    8) Perform an in place upgrade repair

    Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

    Post #13 was not seen while creating post #14.

    Please follow the steps in post #13 instead of the in place upgrade repair.

    Thanks so much - recreating the files in the Recovery directory seems to have solved the problem. Windows update now running without errors. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

    The 112 MB issue behind the EFI partition can't be fixed by diskpart commands. But that little space can be solved during the next Backup&Recovery procedure.
    Better to leave it as it is at the moment!
