Updating Pc Hardware need to transfer Retail License

    HI Guys
I have searched on here and there seems to be a little confusion on transferring a license based on what it is (would make a good tutorial to cover all types)

Basically I have a Win 10 Pro REATIL channel License. I am upgrading my Mobo CPU & Memory only I will be using the same SSD & HDD plus all the other hardware.

So my question is what will happen when i boot up to my new hardware and Win 10 can see i have a new Mobo?
Also going from Intel to AMD how will i correctly reactivate my Retail license?
Do i have to do anything before i move it on my old setup/

    Hi, consider these:

Link Microsoft Account to Windows 10 Digital License
    and
Use Activation Troubleshooter in Windows 10

There's quite a bit of helpful introductory text there.

Is there a way to tell if your Win 10 key is already registered with your Outlook account?

    Thank you for your reply.

How to Tell if Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10

It's the email address that's registered as your MS Live id that matters. That could be one you use with any email provider.
I have a MS live id - never used Outlook.

    HI
Sorry this is still very confusing in your original link here on stage one it show assigning in Local channel without swapping over.
It shows to add you MS email but mine are already listed! But i am logged in as a Local Account!

    I am logged in as
If you see an email address under your user name on the right side with Manage by Microsoft account and Stop signing in to all Microsoft apps automatically links under it, then you are signed in to Windows 10 with a local account, but will be automatically signed in to all Microsoft Store apps and websites with your Microsoft account.

If i go to my MS account from this Pc i see the following. Would i click the top right remove from this device ?

May I ask some simple questions:

    a. Do you use an email address when you log in? (Should be shown on the screen if so).

    b. If you do, is that the same email address you would use if logging in to your MS account using a browser?

    c. What is now your exact objective in respect of your account?

If you have a question about the tutorial, please feel free to post a question under the tutorial. If something isn't clear enough, that may lead to it being amended if necessary, which will help others.

    Using

    - see Option 1. Are you presently logged in with an MS account? Or not?

    I also use a PIN.

Using a PIN does NOT render the password/email address redundant. When I log in, I see the email address on the login screen.

Following the tutorial I gave you, I see this:
Updating Pc Hardware need to transfer Retail License-1.jpg

Under the picture to the right, there is an email address.

Reading the text from the tutorial I understand that to mean I am logged in with an MS account.

    What do you see?

    Post a screenshot like that.

Is there anything now confusing you about the tutorial?

    HI
As mentioned in Post 5 i am signed in as per the guide you sent the 2nd one
"If you see an email address under your user name on the right side with Manage by Microsoft account and Stop signing in to all Microsoft apps automatically links under it, then you are signed in to Windows 10 with a local account, but will be automatically signed in to all Microsoft Store apps and websites with your Microsoft account."

Also in Post 5 i sent a screen shot of my MS account which shows the PC and in the top right it gives me an option to unlink this Win 10 from this PC, would this work ?

    This tutorial
Uninstall Product Key and Deactivate Windows 10
    - linked from the ones above-
discusses near the start the implications of unlinking or 'uninstalling' a product key.
