Sorry gang - so much advice being given here (and I'm not a techie). And being a senior citizen I'm getting a little slower in my ripe ole age.

Alright, my Media Creation tool will not let me do anything. Can you (or anyone) give me a direct download link for the 20H2 ISO download?
I have given you a link to the tutorial, which gives you a link to [Option 5] TechBench - this generates a link to the ISO download. You have to go through a sequence to get the download link because MS do not provide permanent download links for ISOs.
Option 5 Download Windows 10 ISO File
gives you a link to TechBench TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)
and that only gives you the link when you have made the necessary choices - see diagram
Bear with me here - Updating from version 1909 impossible for me-techbench-choices-list.png

So just go though TechBench and you'll get it.

I appreciate that there is scope for confusion
    - I'm suggesting that you get on & try the ISO
    - dalchina is trying to help you find the cause of the updating problem.
dalchina is wise. I am taking a shortcut in the hope that using the ISO will succeed and will also overwrite whatever the cause of the updating problem is.

    Just got back...

Sorry - I had to go to a store. Just got back. Am downloading it now.

Also, previously, I went to this link to try and install - and it failed to install also (around the 3rd reboot mark - as that's where the errors occur).

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    - - - Updated - - -

I tried the Media Creation Tool - tried to save the ISO file to a folder and it gave me the same error as before.

I then did manage to download the ISO separately from the link you gave me. I need to get some double layer DVD's because the DVD's I have currently don't have the capacity to burn this ISO file.

I know, I know - all stupid sounding questions, but hey - it is what it is.

    Ben,

You do not need to burn it to anything. You can run the Repair install-InPlace Upgrade directly from the ISO.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - TenForumsTutorials

If this upgrade attempt using the ISO for the Repair install also fails then I think you will have no choice but to focus on resolving the existing problems with the computer - see dalchina's advice in post #2
    - The other comments you made about failures, "Also, previously, I went to this link to try and install - and it failed to install also (around the 3rd reboot mark - as that's where the errors occur).", are concerning. I had not realised you had already tried direct use of the ISO.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Just mounted the ISO

...using Windows Explorer and am now doing the install (keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm not getting my hopes up).

    - - - Updated - - -

...again, everything seems to install just right until you go through the rebooting phase where it runs into errors. I may just have to do a clean install. Mannnn, I hate to lose all of the myriad of programs that I have installed on my C drive.

I believe it's run its course...

Using virtually every recommended method of updating my Windows 10 1909 to a higher version has failed - mainly in the boot phase. Yes, you can close this thread if need be.

dalchina is not suggesting closing the thread, he/she wants to know why you didn't respond to post #2

    Hi, thank you.

There are two clear issues- and of course could be more. These mean your upgrade attempts after the first have simply been a waste of time.

    1. Confllcting program.
    Migration Obejct: HKCU\Software\Trusteer\Rapport [installed]
    Error: 5
Refer to "https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/Debug/system-error-codes" for error information.
Recommend you move or delete the object specified "HKCU\Software\Trusteer\Rapport [installed]" and try the update again.
    2. Your Recovery partition is disabled.
Now this may or may not affect the upgrade, but relates to my request for a screenshot of your partitions.

    So please
    a. Uninstall that program
    b. post a screenshot of your partitions as per my previous post.

Have you consciously done anything such as removing the Recovery partition?

    Thanks.
