Windows will nnot update past 1909

I have factory restored a friends HP Pavilion tower and starting from version 1607 have got to version 1909 but it will not go onto the 2002 or 2H02 versions.

Any ideas on what I can do to get to the latest versions please?

List any of these non-Microsoft software:
    a) antivirus
    b) firewall
    c) drive encryption

    Run:

Tuneup.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

LOGS.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

Specifications of PC? Driver page for it please. Is it approved for Win 10?

    Full error message?
    Logs? E.g. setuperr.log, setupact.log

Try a clean boot, download and iso file, try manually upgrading. Remove any 3rd party security software.

How much free space is there on C: ?
Screenshot of partitions using a 3rd party partition manager.

    Try running
    setupdiag.exe
free from MS (Google it). Post results.

    Have you checked the disk?
    Please run

Thanks for the replies folks but I am not sure of a lot about this machine except that I had to factory restore it to get Windows back.

I will run some tests on the machine tomorrow as it is getting late here now and I need a bit more time to check out the things you both would like to know.

Sorry for late reply but I cannot get some of the suggestions to work or initiate, Thw drive has pleanty of space on it 853GB of 953GB left.
The anti virus I put on it I cannot seem to shift and those BAT files are telling me they could cause seriousdamage to the machine.

I have an ISO and is there any way of forcing the later versions using that ?

You could try an In-Place Upgrade...
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.

For older ISO image versions, go here instead...
    Download Windows 10 ISO File

You still need to disable any non-Microsoft AV, firewall or drive encryption software. But if you have the ISO, you can start here...

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will look like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

Bat files by design always trigger AV.
The scripts were created by Ten Forums members are are available here:
Batch files for use in BSOD debugging

Please follow the instructions for each script in post #2.

Problem solved after I phoned Microsoft for support and the technician told me that the machine was so out of whack with corrupted files that only a clean install would put right so she corrected a lot of different settings in processes and so forth and then reinstalled the machine and am now on version 2H02.

But thanks to all who had some input into this issue I an very appreciative.

Protect yourself in the future as is so very very often recommended here by using disk imaging regularly and routinely.

Full backup, can recover if your PC is stolen or imaged disks fail- evne if you need a new disk or PC.

The very act of imaging verifies the integrity of the used part of imaged partitions, so you are warned of corruption.

Also recommended: set e.g. Crystal Diskinfo (free) to continuously monitor and alert you of the state of your disks.
