For Windows upgrade failures options are:

    troubleshoot
    reset reset files
    reset remove files
    clean install
    custom install
    windows refresh

These are tutorials that can be used instead of troubleshooting upgrade failures:

Yes, I can boot and do everything I want to do, except getting the install fully updated.(should e version 2004) I don't understand "System Restore from the Repair environment". I have seen nothing worded that way. Please explain.

There are a few ways to run System Restore when Windows is not working correctly.

    1. Booted into Windows normally.

    2. Booted into Safe Mode.

    3. Booted into the Repair environment and accessed from Troubleshoot.

A Windows Update (not "Upgrade") issue (if that is the "only" issue") usually doesn't require resets or reinstalls except in extreme cases.

I usually start with the simplest thing that might work, rather than a protracted run of a bunch of diagnostic tools that may not even be needed.

    Your call.

We use the bat scripts in any forum.
They were created by members that troubleshoot BSOD.

You did see that the OP said it was a Windows Update issue, not an upgrade issue...

These are the same bat files with BSOD removed from the instructions:

    1) What are the status of the important computer files:
    a) files backed up to another drive or the cloud
    b) backed up images saved to another drive or the cloud
    c) no backed up files or images > files need to be saved
    d) no backed up files or images > files do not need to be saved

    2) For all steps / tests make sure images are posted into the thread:

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

    3) For any problems posting images please use share links: one drive, drop box, or google drive

    4) Run:

    Tuneup.bat

    DiskParInfo.bat

    LOGS.bat

    Get_Powercfg_info.bat

    @OldNavyGuy

There are no restore points available.

zbook For Windows upgrade failures options are:
I have update issues, not upgrade issues.

I posted your comment about that above (#14).

I think @zbook may be misunderstanding the issue, or if not, what the thinking is.

    Windows version 1909

What specific problems have been identified?
Did you want to remain using 1909 or upgrade to 2004?

Only the first round of updates was successful, leaving me at version 1909. All my check for updates have returned "You're up to date" messages. At this point v.1909 is still not fully updated. My desire is to be fully updated in v.2004 like my other win10 machine is.
