Delaying updates

A quote from a newsletter I got today:
Microsoft removes manual deferrals from Windows Update by IT pros 'to prevent confusion' | ZDNet

"Last year, we changed update installation policies for Windows 10 to only target devices running a feature update version that is nearing end of service. As a result, many devices are only updating once a year. To enable all devices to make the most of this policy change, and to prevent confusion, we have removed deferrals from the Windows Update settings Advanced Options page starting on Windows 10, version 2004."

The Choose when updates are installed feature to defer feature and quality updates in this tutorial appears to no longer be available starting with Windows 10 version 2004 and higher.

If you like, you can still pause updates instead.

Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10

This is disappointing. However you can still use the Group Policy method to defer updates and a feature update will not be installed until you permit it.

Ed discovered that there’s a Registry setting you can use in any recent version of Win10 Pro or Enterprise (version 1803 or later) to lock your computer onto a specific version of Win10. If you want to stay on Win10 version 1903, for example, set this TargetReleaseVersionInfo registry key to 1903 and Microsoft won’t push you to 1909 or 2004 or 20H2.
