I just reread your previous notes. So you are using the same machine where you have successfully downloaded fall cu and no problems. Hmmmmm. You said you installed win version latest download with no problem. After installing that version, run Sfc /scannow. Then run dism /online /cleanup-image / restorehealth. See if all is well with that version. If error messages, maybe you need to re-download that version of windows again. Then repeat. Something is corrupt somewhere.
Thanks mate, your right about something is corrupt somewhere.
I’ll try your suggestions but as I said it’s a formatted disk, the ISO from MS has installed and working perfectly

I think your issue with 17017+ builds is that you are using a discontinued MB with discontinued chipset and discontinued CPU. There simply exist no driver support for your setup for next Windows release. Try next build. If it does the same lockup...try next, until you find one that runs...or stay on FCU, if that one works.

You could well be correct, let’s see what happens with the next build or ISO and go from there

Yes, I see that. Some of the drivers are quite old. Intel Desktop Board DX58SO Product Specifications

bordi, have you updated the BIOS for it? Perhaps a newer CPU may help if possible. Also, I threw in a video card in the Acer cuz the onboard graphics is just too old.

Yes, it gets to be that they're not worth spending money on. I got away cheap with the Acer with just a video card. That was back in 8.1. Surprised to see 10 runs on it. Slow, but runs.
