So did I, as well as Powershell ISE(Admin shortcut), 'cos I'm not really just a point and click wannabe, but just a realist that believes that a well designed UI saves time and prevents mistakes, and a CMD(admin) shortcut too, since I use it often. Chrome and Firefox and Maxthon Nitro are there as quick alternatives - my BBC Iplayer app when I get bored of you lot at TF, and the MS Network Speed Test store app tryout (not pinned).
Not being a . . ., albeit Wind key E will do the job of bringing up Explorer , in fact it will allow you to run several Explorer windows. . .I am sure most of you already knew that. Since I run three monitors I fine it nice to have at least two monitors set when moving files between HDDs, and SSDs. . .:)
Everything is working fine so far, except Windows Journal! Don't know if this is ONLY ME!
My second Pro VM that followed the first that saw the upgrade to the TH2 that saw that admin acount dumped and was removed this weekend just saw the second Pro VM also now gone while the Home VM saw an instant upgrade to the 332 take place. That was seen when I the second upgrade from 7 Ultimate this time while the last was 7 Pro to 10 wouldn't see the latest build come in right away simply from being a brand new VM that now replaced the other second Pro VM.
The recording came out about 40min. longer then the one over the weekend but only provides a glimpse of a temp email address initially set up for sharing screens but now recorded showing a few problems that can run into on initial upgrade attempts and then trying to get the latest onto the 7 to 10 upgrade but had to sub the Home VM to show how it looks when the new build is downloaded and goes on. At the end a quick check on the new Pro VM saw one other update but still no 332 in the wind! Total running time came out at 4hrs. 35min. as I timed the stop button hit! so it ended on an even minute at least.
I've just un-installed all AMD graphics drivers completely from the system, and let it boot using the on-board GFX only
..and - surprise, surprise - everything is working as normal, albeit at a really slow rate compared to the AMD driver..
- so the problem I was having is related solely to the AMD cards..
- they don't seem to want to load and function correctly..
I have recently been using DisplayPort to DVI (via an adapter) together with a DVI/VGA (again via an adapter) connection set-up,
using two monitors, but after experiencing these problems of late, I am now back to using a single monitor, via DVI only..
- could it be that the cards need to be completely flushed of previous settings, or reset in some way?
- if so, does anyone know how I would go about such a procedure?
I just noticed while typing my reply to BugMeister above that when I copy an image from Snipping Tool, Right-Click-Paste or ctrl-V does not work on Edge?
But when I switched to Chrome, it was no sweat.
Tried to clean install on the laptop, got to 49% of getting files ready...
Apparently my laptop and WinX clean installs don't get along.
Are you kidding? 10 clean installs are the best on laptops! The buggiest upgrade besides the initial attempts on the main here were seen on that old 7 laptop where I ended up nuking the entire drive in order to get a fresh working copy of 10 on! along with a second backup partition. No Start button, locked out of AllApps, etc. on the initial upgrade followed by the immediate 32bit clean install to be replaced later by the 64bit after the drive wipe and all was working well until....?
Something on the 4yr. old laptop quit suddenly display wise nothing. Later found the drive was doa as well. No drive won't work or nothing on display to tell. Ended up seeing that one replaced with a brand new model that came out last fall with 10 already on it to solve that one fast.
