It will depend on the setting and what it is.

This thread has nothing to do with System Restore which (last time I looked) was working in 1903.
Ahhh. OK. Got it. Sorry that I misinterpreted it. Thanks, Bree!

    Thanks for testing that Dan.

One further thing I just realized, you need to modify the RegIdleBackup task to run at startup (successfull boot) or it will not continue to backup the registry files. My last backup was on 7/21 when I ran this manually. I've done many reboots since then with no additional backups occurring.

Double click on RegIdleBackup (or right click on it and select Properties) to open Properties for the task.
    Click on the Trigger tab.
    Click the Edit button.
Click on the Begin Task dropdown and select At Startup.
    Click OK then OK.
    Close Task Scheduler.

The schtasks /change command does not support adding the onstart parameter to the task. Looks like it can only be added when the task is created.

Only way around this from a Command Line method would be to delete the existing task and create a new one with the onstart parameter included.

I'll look at doing that and see how it comes out.
I tried to add the schtasks command (in post #35) to a bat file that I use to copy some files to my thumb drive and shutdown my system, but schtasks didn't work since my command prompt wasn't authorized; so I'll need to see how I can make my bat file authorized since it now contains this command.
But again, when I bring up an authorized DOS window it runs just fine.

I'm also trying to get the Windows Task Scheduler to run it based on its calendar options that it offers but so far it hasn't worked.

Good luck with that and I'll be looking for your (smiley-face) post on Friday.
