I think so, Mike. I might even get used to the dancing ">" in task manager!

All my current hardware predates Windows 10 so my only real source for drivers is Windows update. I'm rollong the dice with each new build that all my hardware will still work. My ASUS laptop shiped with Windows 8.0 and thats about all i can find on thier site as far as drivers for it. Plus one or twp Windows 8.1 drivers. For my two ASUS desktop motherboards it stops at Windows 7 drivers. It's been my experince that if your device didn't ship with Windows 10 from the factory, don't hold your breath waiting for the OEM to release Windows 10 drivers for it.

Thanks for your advice. My Gigabyte motherboard was released a year ago so I surely hope they are still supporting and releasing new drivers for it. Perhaps I'm overconcerned about drivers offered through the MUC not being compatible with my system.

    Hi there
absolute slew of Office 2016 updates --probably because I haven't updated those for ages -- on the VL / iso version not click2run so updates via windows update not from within office -- I probably hadn't on my previous windows version enabled updates for other Ms products. Anyway all working
there's about 3 screen pageloads of these !!!
    Attachment 206619
    Cheers

I have the exact same problem every time I clean install Windows. A lot of Office 2016 updates have accumulated over the last years! It would be great if Microsoft just puts them all in a Service Pack or in a newer version of the installation package of Office 2016 itself. That would save a lot of time.

The new Office 2019 Professional Plus ISO's are up on My Visual Studio. Plus a Web install version. I noticed it when I went looking for the Windows 10 1809 ISO's.
I'm currently still running Office 2016, Retail click to run update. Haven't bothered to manually check for updates. Only just finished downloading all the new Visual Studio ISO's and claiming my new product codes for Office 2019.
I likely won't do anything with Windows of Office today. Not feeling all that well today. I want to do some clean installs of both Office and Windows at some point.

I was just mumbling and generalizing the idea of W10 and compatibility. Do you have exclusive drivers for your Gigabyte motherboard? The only thing you may miss on is a Gigabyte emblem or something rooted into a controlpanel or some such. I have a MSI board and I can get the MSI logo in the audio controlpanel if I download it directly from them, but since I don't use the built-in audio I don't even have it enabled. Its also the only driver being actively updated on their site. If you search the driver versions you can get a better overview if the driver is being tweaked or if it's just offered directly from them (reference the numerics). Most cases the drivers offered are mirrors, released by multiple sources and are outdated on the mb manufacturer's websites. Except for maybe laptops.
Good point about checking the versions being the same or not. I'm not sure if the following drivers are truly exclusive but this is what Gigabyte offers for my motherboard:

    - Realtek Audio Driver
    - Realtek LAN Driver
    - Intel Rapid Storage driver
    - Intel INF drivers
    - Intel Management Engine driver

    Link

Not sure if these drivers are also offered by Windows Update, especially the Intel Rapid Storage driver.

So far everything works on my two very old desktops and getting old laptop with what Windows update supplies.

Web install or ISO install of Office 2016? I can do either but have been doing the ISO install. It's outdated though, released 9/22/2015 according to the info on My Visual Studio. I would imagine, but haven't confirmed that the Web install is updated. I'll be switching to Office 2019 Professional Plus now anyway.

I've seen Realtek audio, Realtek LAN, Intel INF and ME being updated between major feature updates. The rapid Storage driver is really not needed, but Windows will offer its own ATA/ATAPI and ACHI driver for your disk drives. Not sure if there's any difference between them though.

One of my laptops is not being offered 1809 through WU. Is there a way I can encourage it to come through WU? I tried troubleshooting and clearing the storage and restarting.

Rollout is staged and progressive- it's not instantly available to all users.

You can, however, download it manually.

Ultimately there should be the possibility it is never offered to PCs deemed incompatible.
