@cereberus thanks for info. Rapt.exe sounds safe and useful. Think I’ll try it.

I was having trouble with some drivers and decided to try and tidy them up. I exported the 3rd party drivers and there was well over 50 mostly incomprehensible without looking at .inf files in detail and took up around 3GB!

I found a great tool rapr.exe on github and it sorted drives by type and within a few minutes I identified drivers no longer needed (old printers, mobile phones, hard drive long gone) and lots of duplicates.

You can easily delete them but it will not let you delete ones in use or ones it thinks are in use.

I checked in device manager for each driver on each component, and compared with rapr info.

I slimmed my driver database to around 30 drivers, and eliminating duplicates reduced storage to around 1GB!

Obviously be careful and use our good old friend Macrium Reflect and keep a copy of all drivers first.

This is a truly great tool but perhaps not for beginners but it does err on safe side so it takes effort to really screw things up. I even used Forced Delete on some it said may still be in use but I was sure they were not.

Great tool - funny thing it has been around for years and not that well known.
Is it better than DriverView from Nirsoft?? Forget about that. It's different kind a...

Thanks - it is a great little tool. I didn't have as much junk on the machine as I thought I might.

I been using that tool for a while now. I cleared out old drivers all the time. Also another program that is needed as it gets rid of old Device Manger entries is "Device Cleanup Tool".

Are you talking about MS Office Outlook or Outlook that's part of Windows?
