    Sign-in hang-ups

After signing in with my pin on my Acer laptop, the screen "Choose if you want to keep signing in with your face or fingerprint" appeared. (I have never signed in with either.) Whichever option I choose, the "next" button remains greyed-out and every other option on the screen is unresponsive. I have restarted three times with the same outcome.

    Hello @Hazzer,

Have you made ANY Registry or Settings changes or installed ANY Windows Updates prior to this happening ?

If possible, to find out which Windows Updates have been installed, Copy & Paste the following command into a CMD Prompt and press Enter. It will list them in Descending order on InstalledOn.

    Code:

    PowerShell Get-HotFix ^| Sort-Object InstalledOn -Descending ^| Format-Table -Autosize ^| Out-String -Width 1000

    I hope this helps.

Can you log in in Safe Mode? E.g. from the Power button bottom rt on the login screen, SHIFT left click the Restart option and work thru the screens to select Safe Mode (tutorial available in the searchable Tutorials section).

You might try using an offline System Restore point to see if that helps.

If not, this tutorial may give you a hint as to a possible way forward:
How to Fix Unable to Add and Use PIN Sign-in Option in Windows 10

    - although you would have to be a little creative if you can't log in.

Thanks. I can't access the CMD prompt screen and no restart option functions. Everything is completely unresponsive except being able to enter my pin.

I will give you much longer instructions for the same things.

There are two possible ways you might get to Safe Mode given you can't boot normally.

The first, which I mentioned, does NOT have anything to do with a command prompt. I never mentioned that.

Look to the bottom right of your login screen.
Do you see a little symbol?
What happens when you click on it?

    See:
Boot to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10
Option 2, 4 - look at the screenshot.

The second is to boot your PC, then interrupt booting early on by pressing the power button.
    Repeat that 3 times.
Then you should boot to the Advanced Startup screens. (Blue).
Boot to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10
    Option 6

    ...then...
Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10

    ========
the offline System Restore again, of course, requires that you boot your PC from a Win 10 install disk to Advanced Startup options and try to start System Restore from the option there. You will need to know your password, and of course, there must be 1 or more restore points available.

Tutorial available- from the searchable Tutorials section. Do have a look.
    ========
    This that I suggested:

How to Fix Unable to Add and Use PIN Sign-in Option in Windows 10

    - although you would have to be a little creative if you can't log in.
    - if you can boot to Safe Mode you may be able to follow it.

    - otherwise - boot your PC from e.g. a Win 10 install disk (to Advanced Startup options, and thus to a command prompt)
and make use of the information in the tutorial.

Thanks for your time. I mentioned command prompt because the message was also intended to acknowledge Paul's contribution. The laptop won't switch on, so it looks like the end of the road!
