I think that is the right decision.
Setting up your initial account as a local account keeps your options open.You'll be able to call your UserName & hence your C:\Users folder something simple such as Marmaduke.You can always add an additional local account later on then, if you ever decide there is a benefit to it, convert it into an MSAccount.You'll be able to keep its internal UserName [as shown in net user & elsewhere] & its C:\Users folder to something simple such as MaximillianOC so you will always be able to identify it as the outlook.com-linked account whatever full name you registered when creating that email account.
That's what I did.
