Unable to reset windows 10 user password

I am not locked out of windows. I log in using the PIN number but have no idea what the password is for the username.

Windows 10 version 1909

The windows 10 reset password option provided on screen requires a usb recovery, I don't have that. Maybe I did years ago but only heaven know where it is now.

Tried a couple different methods of resetting the user password (a hacking method and a password recovery utility script), however they fail with "System Error 8646 / The system is not authorized for the specified account....." Meaning it is not a local account and I need to reset it using the Microsoft account.

I log into microsoft.com but can't find where or how to change the password to the windows user login.

I see the option to change my microsoft.com login password but I don't see how that will help anything.

Already tried logging in to Windows 10 with windows username and the microsoft.com login password. That also fails as expected since I would never have set my windows password to be the same as my microsoft.com password.

How do I reset my windows password using the microsoft account?

Ok so a few details:

So, if the windows user account is not local and is instead linked to your microsoft account. Your microsoft login password is your windows10 user login password.

Where that did not work for me is that I basically had two microsoft accounts: 2 email addresses with login passwords. I could login to the one but not into the one I needed in order to solve the issue. I managed to reset my password, which also works to login to the window user account.

Never did find "Change Account Password in Windows 10" however the link to the tutorial helped.
