Thanks @Brink
This is some impressive work!
I was a bit too hasty in rejoicing that my problem regarding "The user name or password is incorrect" has been fixed, but unfortunately that's not the case. Sure enough, if I run "shutdown /r/t 0" in the Run box or uncheck " Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" in netplwiz's users account's settings, the message doesn't reiterate at reboot.
These two temporary solutions don't satisfy my need. So, I am going to open a new thread for this issue with the title " The user name or password is incorrect message upon restart after installing FCU"
I do feel sorry for Jason[MS] trying to justify why this was a good idea in his "Why?" section. He did stick in the word "seamless" and some random punctuation though.
Thanks Brink for letting us avoid one of the more idiotic changes of this upgrade.
I can see this new behavior being helpful to some, but I would prefer to have a setting to choose the default action instead.
So would I, certainly.
For example if your PC has an issue you can force restart with ctrl+alt+del. Why would one want the errant program to restart?
Interestingly during recent insider build upgrades the open programs have been restarted after a forced restart for a while but they don't reopen with the last state. Word opens but the document you were editing doesn't open and your changes are lost.
To re-open a web page makes sense - to re-open a document I'm not so sure.
Shawn: Wonderful tutorial! Thanks!
I'm curious: What ever happened to the "create custom desktop icons for shutdown and restart" for Windows 10? Did I miss something?
Hello Arthur, :)
We didn't have separate tutorials for those since folks could just use one of the shut down or restart commands from the tutorials below to create a shortcut with.

Thanks @Brink (Shawn) for the helpful tutorial. I hope they add the quick shutdown as an option on the next update for Windows 10. For now I will click "Shutdown PC and prepares it for fast startup." My mom's Acer doesn't even beep at startup anymore by me clicking that button. It worked like a charm.
