    Hello Bob,

Are these removable drives? If so, folder views won't stick for them.
Ohh okay. This makes sense now. For some reason Windows annoyingly sees my ESata drives as removable.

Is there a way to customize these pre-defined templates?

    Hello,

I'm not aware of a way to create your own default base folder template, but you are able to customize any of the templates and apply it to either all folders or all folders that use the same base template.

Once you have your folder views set how you like, you can back them up to be able to quickly restore as needed.

Brink, does this tute- How to Backup and Restore Folder View Settings in Windows 10 take care of the problem where I have to re-do all my Details customizations in File explorer after an Upgrade or Repair Install ? ie; I set Music folder to show columns Title, Length, Artist, Year, etc but it's reset to Default view after an Upgrade.
Ran your .bat and tool and get these results. Not sure what Shell Bags are for. Which of these 5 would fix my issue in future Upgrades ? Thanks

    Hello mrgeek,

Backing up your folder views would include all that, and make it easy to quickly restore as needed.

The registry files in the backup folder are exports of all the registry locations for your folder view settings.

I don't want to create my own base folder template, rather edit all of the existing ones. I just don't like the view and content of columns for every pre-defined template. Any registry entry where I could edit what column is pre-defined after applying them to any folder?

I'm afraid not, but backing up your folder views after setting them how you like is an effective way to restore as need.

    Good afternoon,

After a clean customised install, I want to set ALL the folders to Details View with Name, Date Modified, Type, and Size only. I also want any NEW folders created to have these same settings.
Do I need to run the General Items Template AND Documents Template .BAT files to achieve this please?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Paul,

Correct. You would want to set the General Items template as default first to make all folders use this template.

Afterwards, set the columns how you want in a folder, and use Apply To Folders like in the tutorial below.
