Hi Shawn, just tried this on a 1909 iso - my result matches that of the poster- 18362.

How could you then tell the iso is actually for 1909? (Sorry for another headache..)

    Thanks!
    Hello mate,

Is this an official ISO from Microsoft, or a custom one?

Normally, you should be able to tell like by what's highlighted below, and cross reference the build to the version.

Thanks, downloaded wth Heidoc iso downloader. Followed the tutorial, as did the poster, -> 18362.

Had a poke around inside the install.wim as a random trial, but everything I tried- even created in Oct. rather than March- was 18362.

Hi Shawn. I downloaded the 1909 Iso using the Media Creation Tool back in December. Mine shows as 10.0.18362.418 too. I remember thinking this was very strange at the time as I was expecting to see it showing 18363. Isnt it just because it was a minor update from 1903 to 1909 and it only installed a small enablement package, turning on dormant features that were already part of 1903. Ive use this USB to clean install 1909 before and it shows as 10.0.18363.418 when installed as expected

    SportsFan,

The point is that it would be nice to be able to check exactly what an ISO is before using it to, for example, run a Repair install.

I played around with this a little while ago and I didn't find anything that identified it as Version 1909 / Build 18363. Brink's idea about looking through the log to see which matches the Minor build number .418 seems to be the only solution at the moment.

Sorry Denis for my misunderstanding...the OP in another thread where the discussion originated just seemed to want reassurances that it was indeed version 1909 that he had on an Iso even though it didnt say it was version 18363

    Here's a (less obvious) way:
See Full Details about a Windows 10 ISO file or USB-untitled.png

Compare the SHA1 hash with a database of these: (ignore the somewhat misleading 'DVD' - I suppose the iso is regarded as that which would be burnt to a DVD..)

Microsoft SHA1 Hash Archive from "My Visual Studio"

Microsoft SHA1 Hash Archive from "My Visual Studio"

    Windows 10 (consumer editions), version 1909 (x64) - DVD (English-United Kingdom)

On the left, m'lud. I introduce as evidence, one downloaded iso file which I've rt clicked, SHA1 hashed.

On the left, we have a corroborating value from the database.

    (I searched for
    hash for Windows iso downloads
    )

Out of curiosity...Would Version 1909 18362.418 Iso on a USB be suitable to use to perform a Repair Install/in place upgrade ? Would the fact that this Iso shows as file version 18362 cause problems as 1909 is actually 18363 (As of today Version 1909 is Build 18363.1016) ?

If I understand correctly, with the
    dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:<Drive Letter>:\sources\install.wim /index:<Index Number>
    or
    dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:<Drive Letter>:\sources\install.esd /index:<Index Number>
command, you can also view the xxxx version and the xxxxx.xxx build of Windows 10 saved in a volume image of an install.wim or install.esd file. Right?

    Thanks

    Bye
