    Open a new thread for upgrade troubleshooting.

    Run setupdiag > post a share link using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    Intel Mobil Processor SL6WZ (Mobile-M) & NX Limitation Win 10

    Have tried (almost?) EVERYTHING. Have posted in ( Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First page 484), This was after many many many months trying to get this win 10 upgrade (even tried back when it was official free not using the MS supplied KB's). The Mobile-M processor does not support NX, and this limitation fails 10 install. Tried many various 'fixes' none worked. I have not found a BIOS fix (not sure it would work) nor have I found a way to 'edit' out that NX check during install. Does ANYONE have a solution to this? No matter what I tried (to the point of grinding down this very capable laptop), this NX processor limitation halts install. AFAIK, this is the ONLY stop that keeps the upgrade from working. So, any 'edit' of the install program that would bypass this NX check? Limited knowledge but lots of experience (practical) in dealing with these things (I can lop a pin off the processor if that would help LOL). Believe me, I have tried many many many many suggestions but every time it stops dead on that NX check during install. MS, my system meets ALL of your install rqmts, why do you want me to trash this very capable hardware?????

    Hi mega,

    Have you?
    • Dis-connected all drives except for the one that has the win7 OS?
    • Dis-abled your GTS GForce450 only for install, then test you can reinstall later.

    Thank you for filling in your My Computer Specs.

    Anak;

    Only one drive internal. I would question what the driver has to do with the install failing the 'NX' bit processor check? I have not tried that before just seems if the processor is giving the rejection what would a vid card driver be doing to it to fail?

    Ahhhh, hey I just went back for the @ 500th time to ( Mobile Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor - M 2.60 GHz, 512K Cache, 400 MHz FSB Product Specifications ), noticed the double cross at the " Execute Disable Bit " near the bottom (even though the processor says 'NO', for not included?), and found this description " ‡ This feature may not be available on all computing systems. Please check with the system vendor to determine if your system delivers this feature, or reference the system specifications (motherboard, processor, chipset, power supply, HDD, graphics controller, memory, BIOS, drivers, virtual machine monitor-VMM, platform software, and/or operating system) for feature compatibility. Functionality, performance, and other benefits of this feature may vary depending on system configuration. ". Your mention of the vid card driver was one I had not crossed before. I have NO IDEA why I didn't catch that double cross before, will try to remove graphics driver (uninstall) and let it go generic. Will report back.

    Fingers crossed (been there before}!!!!

    Backing up a bit, I looked for: NX check during win 10 install and found a lot of info on it maybe there's something there that will jog your memory.

    And there's more to look at here on: GA-G41M-ES2H win 10 nx check during install

    Do the upgrade first. This will record on Microsoft's activation servers a digital license for W10 Pro on this PC. Once you have a digital license you could clean install of W10 Pro and skip entering a key when asked. It will activate from the existing digital license.

    Either . You could restore a Macrium image, or use Microsoft's Media Creation Tool to make an install USB which could be used to do a clean install.

    Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
    Can I create that bootable USB Flash drive before I do any upgrades from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro?
