How to Change Default Control Panel Icons in Windows 10

In addition to Settings, you can use the Control Panel to change settings for Windows 10. These settings control nearly everything about how Windows looks and works, and you can use them to set up Windows so that it's just right for you.

This tutorial will show you how to change the default icon of items in the Control Panel to any icon for your account or all users in Windows 10.

2 Navigate to the key in the table below for the icon you want to change in the left pane of Registry Editor. (see screenshot below)

Got to Option 2 and found it wont allow me to switch Ownership to Admins.
Has a recent update changed things?

    Hello Peter,

I just checked on my system, and I'm still able to change the owner first and permissions afterwards for the paths in the table of step 3 option 2.

Are you getting an error message?

I realized afterwards that I was looking at the wrong button.
My eyesight is getting bad so I have to strain to see what is in the pics.
I hate Windows Magnifier so am using a combo of View/Zoom 133% and a magnifying glass.
    Yes it still works.
    Thanks.

i think Control Panel uses separate icons for Category view . i would like to know what icon is used for User Accounts in Category view. im sure its must be in imageres.dll (88 or 123 or 181) because i changed imageres.dll.mun icons with Resource Hacker and that User Accounts icon changed while the large/small view icons remain unchanged, but i dont know which one(88 or 123 or 181). do you know?
