Speaker no longer works...

To which speaker are you referring,the motherboard one which gives the Beep codes during Power On Self Test [POST] or the hardwired one which uses the Sound Card?
If as you claim,headphones work normally,then this indicates the Sound card does also.
Please confirm the faulty machine is a Laptop and the manufacturers name..
The provided information is confusing,to me anyway.

Folks, I've been working with computers since the early 90s. But, the lower-level system and trouble-shooting stuff I am not well-versed in. Problems are not frequent, so I've spent little time learning it. But... for those here who know this stuff well, thank you for your time on my behalf.

"It has an internal speaker. " If it does, it will normally be connected to the System Panel connector.

Check internally for the connections on the System Panel connector, and the piezo sounder which maybe 10 mm in dia or something like that.

An internal system Beep speaker/piezo sounder is no long supplied with a MOBO or PC Case/Chassis. They may route this to the main audio system speakers/headphones whatever.
It maybe this part that is not working. BIOS/UEFI/system driver.

I assume the Beep command line stuff has been tried from the Command Prompt.

There have been so many contributions to this thread that it's hard to keep up. Sorry if I missed something.

I don't believe I'll be pursing this speaker issue further. I talked to the sales rep whom I ordered my machine from. He assured me that there is no speaker capable of sound output except for the internal speaker that produces the various system sounds.

Also, I took up the control panels recommendation last night (thanks to whomever posted that). As it stands, Windows is showing me no speaker except for the headphones, the ones (apparently) built into my monitors (for which it seems they're not connected to my graphics card properly, or something.. I'll look into making this happen at some point), and a digital output in the back.

I know I heard sound coming from this machine. But, maybe I had my headphones connected and just forgot. Or, I'm in the Twilight Zone, and reality around me is shifting. Either way, I think there's nothing much I can do at this point, without opening the machine up and moving components and boards -- which I have zero intention of doing.
