Tell me what you are going to be connecting these speakers to. Will it be to the Sound Blaster Audigy 4 sound card that you have listed in your in your system specs?

Referring to the user guide for your motherboard (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/m...ING_UM_WEB.pdf), page 1-7 shows how to connect your audio system when using multi-channel speakers.

Your Logitech speakers are a 5.1 system so you want to follow the instructions for connection of a 5.1 speaker system.

    In other words:

The light blue connector on the motherboard connects to the rear speaker input of speakers

The lime connector will go to the front speaker input

The pink connector will go to the Bass (subwoofer) and center channel inputs

If you're not using a discreet sound card, then just hook the green connector on the top rear of the speakers to the green connector on the motherboard.

Yeah, now I understand your confusion

I'm looking at the logitech user guide and that guide is completely useless.

What is clear to me is that you want to connect the green cable to the green connector on the speakers and the lime (green) connector on the motherboard.

The other two cables are a mystery but we can easily figure that out!

    My suggestion:

Plug the black cable into your speakers, and the other end of that black cable into the light blue connector on your motherboard. Light blue is the connector for the rear speakers. So now we simply need to test to see if sound is coming out of your rear speakers.

Right-click the speaker icon on your task bar and select Sounds:

Select the correct audio device and then click on Configure:

    Asus B450M-PLUS-2.jpg

Click on one of the rear speakers to test sound. Note: In the illustration below, I have no rear speakers so that illustration only has the front speakers:

If the sound comes out of the rear speakers correctly then the black cable is connected correctly. Now, simply connect the orange cable to the remaining connector on the motherboard and to the orange connector on the speakers.

If you are not getting sound from the rear speakers, swap the black cable to the pink connector on the motherboard and test again. Again, plug the orange cable into the orange connector on the speakers and the remaining connector on the motherboard.

Let me know if this all works!

I think that the way those speakers (the sub) are set up is to run everything off just the green cable.
I think the sub itself deals with the front, rear, center etc.

The motherboard audio chip is putting out 8 channel sound. IF the Logitech directions are correct, then it seems the sub takes care of the 5.1 channel that the speakers need.

    @hsehestedt

I understand what you are saying, but I think Logitech is using some kind of work around.

But it's easy enough to test both ways.

Ghot, you are correct. All connections from the motherboard / sound card all go to the subwoofer. All speakers plug into the subwoofer.

It's clear that the green cable is used for a plain stereo connection or the front speakers in a 5.1 configuration. The docs say to use all the cables for a 5.1 connection (which makes perfect sense), it simply doesn't make clear which connector (the black or the orange) is for the rear speakers and which is for center / sub. The test will clear up that question.

As for the motherboard, yes, it is capable of 8 channel audio (7.1), but it very clearly states how to connect a 5.1 (6 channel) sound system (see my earlier screenshot from the user guide). So there is absolutely zero question about the motherboard side connections. That part is 100% clear and unmistakable.
