Hello,
I have X470 Taichi and I´ve just installed those HDA FF00 drivers. You can start Realtek Audio manager manually from C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\HDA\RAVCpl64.exe. It works perfectly for me. I have connected it to the Harman Kardon stereo receiver + Castle Acoustics MK Severn II and the sound is amazing!
Guys, I want to borrow your ears for a listening test. It's related to how sound outputs with the uad driver. There is an extension for Netflix for New Edge in Windows 10 which will unlock the Dolby Digital Plus audio codec. Netflix 5.1DDplus For EdgeChromium - Microsoft Edge Addons
With the option "Use ddplus and Atmos(if any) track" checked, it will use mp4a.a6, without it checked it will use the usual mp4a.40.5 which is he-aac.
My system is a 2.1 and I am outputting sound through the 3.5mm analog port. With ddplus as the audio codec, I am finding it to be louder and boomier because voices seem to be boosted through the subwoofer, etc. I'm wondering what is going on, if this is distortion or some kind of strange mixing going on even though in the audio track selection it lists 2.0 (not 5.1)? I know usually ddplus wants to have various chips in all the devices to accept it. Probably it sounds better on a 5.1 system but that's not what I have. Unless of course, this loud boominess is actually considered good and I just don't know any better? Except I know aac is not a bad codec, and the whole thing about the digital chips which I wouldn't have makes me wonder..
There is also lc-aac which is mp4a.40.2 but you only get that in the win10 app when 2.0 channel is selected. I also hear a difference between it and he-aac. A variable in play would also be the quality of the encoding itself.
Would love feedback if anyone has a 2.1 system using the 3.5mm analog output as well.
Tip: If you use this extension, also turn on the option "Use AVC, NOT Avchigh video code", you will generally get better picture quality.
1) Use the windows 10 netflix app instead of website, it has 5.1 audio (no need for browser extension).
2) You shouldn't use 5.1 audio if you only has 2.1 speakers.
3) Set your speakers to stereo and full-range speakers.
4) Play netflix stereo soundtrack when you watch netflix movies using netflix app.
Sandyt, there are reasons why I use the browser sometimes, such as the fact I sometimes need to change region which I can't do with the app. Also, the app won't deliver dolby digital plus audio, only aac. The purpose of this exercise is to hear the differences between the different encoding methods utilized. I don't have good hearing, but I do hear a difference between the 3 encoding methods on a 2.0 audio track, but what I am not sure about is, whether it's better or worse.
The netflix app does provide 5.1 dolby digital plus --- on the 5.1 soundtrack. Since you are using 2.0 soundtrack, it doesn't give you dolby digital plus.

The best sound is the original 2.0 stereo track that is mastered by the movie studio --- whatever the codec it is. You trying to get a 5.1 lossy sound downmix to another lossy 2.0 stereo track only creates worst sound.
They are using new codecs to save bandwidth, not giving you better sound. It may show up in some artificial benchmark software to give you "better" sound in a theoretical sense, but that's all going to be ruined by all the downmixing in the real world.
