Could you use a third party mixer? Is there any?

Unfortunately nothing usable for system wide regulation. Players usually have them but each one has only own.

Did you try to install Gigabyte driver and then update with Realtek. That usually works for me. But I have some older Gigabyte with Intel chipset..

Searching for SubsysID I found 15 different INF installers for MSI boards. Would be best if you knew for sure which one gives the result you want but otherwise would start by picking any one at random (other then HDXRT... from what i've seen, that one seems to more of a generic driver)

    Here's what I'd do
    • Uninstall the current driver and delete all files so Windows won't consider it as a driver choice again
    • Choose which MSI INF you want to install. Delete all the rest
    • Add your hardware ID to the INF file
    • Update driver and browse to the folder
    • It should find the driver and see if it stops you or not because it's unsigned

Double check my work but here's the list of INFs I get searching for the MSI Subsys ID
    Code:
    HDX861A.inf
    HDXCR.inf
    HDXMB3H.inf
    HDXMSB3H.inf
    HDXMSIESS.inf
    HDXPCEE3.inf
    HDXPCEE4.inf
    HDXPrmAu.inf
    HDXRT4.inf
    HDXSBC3H.inf
    HDXSBCH.inf
    HDXSRSA.inf
    HDXTHX.inf
    HDXTHX2.inf
    /* EDIT */
Added most important step: Adding your own h/w id to the INF!

Gigabyte sight has only original Realtek drivers and all look same as this one. I'll see if I can modify one of that list.

I would add (though you probably are already aware), even if you can get a driver for an MSI board to install, that doesn't mean all that added functionality added will, in fact, work with your audio chip. But, of course, only trying will tell :)

Yes, exactly. I have seen a couple of old computers that have an onboard Realtek AC'97 (not HD) card and it is a known issue that latest driver causes a BSOD. The only way to make the card work in Windows 10 and avoid installing another card is to force-install some specific drivers (read respective thread). To avoid Windows Update reinstalling the problematic driver and causing a BSOD you must use the Show/Hide tool. As long as you hide a specific update and there is no newer update that replaces it, problem solved! I guarantee it!
Mine is not that old. It's z97 board with alc1150 .

Same here. Not sure about 7.1, but audio chipset is the same (EP35 Intel)
Tried that MS cab file and no suitable driver was found, Then dl drivers from Realtek and installed wo problem.
Didn't check thread from start - just last few pages. What are you exactly after CountMike? MSI and the rest have better drivers?

Just tried newest from SI but same story, they are all generic Realtek drivers.
Andre, I don't get all that and that's what I'm after. I'm sure I had it just like that on my previous Gigabyte MBs. I also downloaded some older drivers from Gigabyte. Just about to try them too.
