Any Modern Looking Free Archivers for Windows 10? (without ads)

Archives are a simple matter 7-Zip is an obvious solution, it's got a more traditional look (that actually suits it's purpose better than the modern "Jellybean" look of modern Windows apps), It's free and ad free.

However, if you have a reason to look for something to fit in with modern Windows 10 apps, (and personal preference IS a valid Reason), why not just use Windows itself

It has full Zip support, (simply select a group of folders and right-click and choose to add to Zip.

Archive zip containers open as a standard folder does.

OK it does not have the "bells and whistles " of 7 Zip but Windows File manager is a usable tool for it's purpose and can handle all a regular user could need.

7 Zip does have the "advantage" of it's own extra compact compression algorithm, that can archive more in less space, but I would caution it's use as although the 7-Zip application has been around for many years, I would always prefer to use an open standard, such as Zip, that is not likely to disappear after you have invested time into it

I tried it. It installs with only a choice of Russian or Chinese languages and it adds a context menu entry in the chosen language. I went into the folder and edited the settings file to disable update checks and tried changing configuration to English but even though there is an English Language folder I think that the .dll will only use Russian or Chinese.

If you manage to get it to display in English please post details.

A quick look suggested you may be stuck wanting something that supports a dark mode-compatible option. E.g. Peazip doesn't from what I read.

...which opens it in the 7-Zip File Manager. Doesn't seem that bad an interface, you can explore the folders, or click and drag a file and drop it on File Explorer to extract it, for example.

That interface looks very old, something from 90's and absolutely abysmal. Design matters for me. This interface isn't acceptable for me in 2020.

Yes, sadly it has only Russian and Chinese language. I already contacted them via Facebook and asked them to add English. They saw my message, but didn't reply. Seems like I'll stick with Peazip until 360 adds English language.

That is a hell of a long article, not going to read it, nor have time for it. You can tell me in short, what does it say.

No, unfortunately it doesn't support and I also had issues with file integration/association. I had to manually right click on a file, click "open with", click more apps, choose Peazip and then tick "always use this app top open xxx file type". Before that, I tried to do this in Peazip settings, but it didn't work.

I really wish some company would make dark theme archiver suitable for Windows 10 dark theme mode and without issues.
