    Slow Startup...SSD...all startup programs disabled

Hi! I have a 2 TB Samsung SSD, and honestly I don't remember if it was like this since the beginning (I've always had an SSD, upgraded as soon as I got my laptop)... but at least in recent history (probably at least months at this point) it takes FOREVER to load windows after I type my password.

Getting to the login screen takes seconds, but after I type my password it takes 1 minute and 15 seconds from it to go from "welcome" on the login screen to my desktop.

I've disabled all startup programs over time....trying more and more...except for the Classic Shell Menu. That's the only one.

I don't restart the computer a lot which is why I can't really say how long it's been going on.

Hello fan1bsb97 and welcome to tenforums ,

Run the following to disable hibernation and see if there's any improvement:
    Code:
    powercfg /h off

Create a new backup account on your PC if you don't have one already (good idea because things happen), then see how log it takes.

If it's faster, try disabling everything non-MS you don't need from Task Manager - Startup tab that could be slowing it down. If that doesn't solve it Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts and see what happens.

I've already disabled every single thing in startup. But I will do the other things you suggested and let you know how it goes!

Looks like a classic symptom of SSD failure.

    Do the basic:
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and ask if you want to schedule to next start = yes
    Restart

    Back to windows:
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
sfc /scannow (if it finds issues, correcting or not, reboot and run again)
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    and
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Ok I did all those things. First, I cleared over 140 gb of temp files....phew. That got it down to 40 seconds. After I did the other things it's down to 26.

Any other ideas to get it to what it should be?

Thanks for all your help. I don't know how to do the boot trace.
