    very slow boot

    Hello everyone..
    I have a lenovo l340 with the following specs: i5 9300h, GTX 1650 4GB, 8GB single channel ram, 1TB HDD, winodws 10 pro 20h2.
    my problem is that whenever I try to shut it down or restart or boot it, it takes a very long time, sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes to boot. I've made a boot trace with windows performance toolkit (recorder) but I'm not very familiar with this so I uploaded the resaults to the link below..

    Can anyone please see the analyzing and help me to find out what to do.
    Thanks in dvance.

    Thanks for the reply @FreeBooter.
    I've done what's mentioned in the link you've provided and then restarted my laptop. But what should I do now
    Where do I find the results so that I can show you what I've got, is the cbs file in the logs folder or something else?
    Plus: can you please take a look at the file I've provided attached to the link in my main question, almost all boot phases took a long time and a lot of processes and stuff so I didn't know what to do
    Thank you so much

    I took a look at your boot trace.

    There are delays in almost every boot phase, and it's related to a High disk I/O pressure, as you can see in the Disk IO graph.

    There was a disk block failure, as you reported in another post, that you've fixed. I'hope this error is no more reported by Hard disk sentinel and in the Windows events log!

    if the disk error, is definitely fixed, you need to fix the prefetcher that seems not working as expected.

    do the following:
    • stop and disable the Sysmain service;

    • delete the content of "C:\Windows\Prefetch" folder;
    • restart your computer several times (3 times at least);
    • enable the Sysmain service again;
    • Restart your computer 6 times; this will train the prefetcher to properly predict the next file the system need when starting and put it in the cache to speed files and drivers reading on HDD.

    when done, take another boot trace, and will give you other actions to perform.

    When you take another boot trace, only select "First level triage" and "CPU usage" profiles

    Thank you so much for your time @zinou, I really appreciate that.
    About the sysmain process I actually have it disabled beacause of its high disk usage which sometimes affects the laptop's performance, anyway I'll definitely do what you said and report back when I'm done.
    Thanks again for the help.
    Edit: the sysmain service was actually set to manual instead of disabled if that changes anything

    Good evening guys....
    So @zinou I've done what you've told me to (I disabled sysmain completely, deleted the prefetch folder, restarted 4 times, sat the sysmain to automatic and restarted 6 times) and I didn't find much of a difference in the boot time but as you said I did run a boot trace again and here are the results..

    would you please take a look at it and tell me what to do next please.
    and @freebooter I've uploaded the results from the event viewer; which are from today and yesterday; to the link below..

    I don't know why it is not recording the boot process but just the shutdown although I did what was in the link you've given me before, anyway there are a few events from yesterday for the boot process but I don't know if they're enough, so please take a look and tell me what should I do next.
    Thank you guys very much.

    Hello @Bashaar,

    Have a look in here . . .

    MSConfig

    [1] Press Windows + R keys simultaneously to open the Run dialog box.
    [2] Type msconfig in the Run dialog box and press <Enter>.
    [3] Click the Startup tab.

    Post a screenshot . . .

    I hope this helps.

    Can you install latest version of graphic card driver if you have latest version try rollback previous version of the driver.

    You can also perform clean boot state.

    Hi,

    Effectively there is improvement in the boot delay compared to the first trace.

    very slow boot-image.png

    Winlogon phase took longer in the second trace, but this is related to how long you take to enter your credentials. => to have the correct winlogon delay, use the Autologon tool from sysinternals, so that you don't have to enter your credentials during the boot process.

    What you can do next to improve the boot time even more, is to tweak some services startup mode;

    change the startup mode of the following services from "Automatic" to "Automatic (Delayed start)":
    very slow boot-image.png

    • NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem

    very slow boot-capture2.png

    • OneApp.IGCC.WinService (Service for Intel(R) Graphics Command Center "igccservice")
    • IntelAudioService

    After that take another boot trace after enabling autologon
